No worries at this time. I was just wondering.

Yep, feel free to let me know if it ever goes too far.

And bear in mind that the WHOLE conversation will get looked at... so, like... you know.

in so many words, yes...you are correct...the only remaining question will be, are they good enough to be too good for their own good?

I made it late last night at work after chain smoking a few following the demolition of the hapless coyotes ( who will not get another point here on out)

Ek just speculated about the Oilers winning the lottery. So that brings our chances now to what, 30%?

Okay here's a thought. Let's say, for a second the Sabers (Sayburrs) actually end up finishing 29th. They then don't win the lottery (It's going to be San Jose) and the team that does, picks McDavid. Arizona gets Eichel.

We have the third pick. Barring any kind of trade down, we can draft another defenseman (nor probable but what do I know) or another center/F (top 4 F all C this year, no?).

So next year our top-9 (current roster, including junior prospects and not taking into account this season's performance or buy-out trade), is Ennis, Moulson, Kane, Girgensons, Reinhart/Grigorenko, Larsson, Gionta, Foligno and Hogson.

Who fits into this line up better, or BEST?

McDavid, Eichel, Strome, Mariner? Who actually fits in this line-up the best? Who comes in and fits the line-up perfectly right now? Of course it would be great to have the absolute generational talent who will score a ton but everyone thinks that player will just come to Buffalo and that's it we got our guy!

But what's to say that Strome or Mariner don't fit this team's make-up better and as a result because of things we can't perceive with stats and wins it is the best course for the franchise long-term starting next year?

Add in any trades, FA signings or whoever makes the team come October and then add Crosby (McDavid), Teows (Eichel), P. Kane (Strome) or Giroux (Mariner). Who fits the group best? Everyone is so quick to blow their load at the thought of McDavid or at the very least Eichel on this team but It could flat out not work just because. So maybe one of the two is the best for our market, from a profit standpoint. But is our market best for the player, from a development standpoint? Is it all just good management and coaching or is it also personal chemistry with the other players and pressure from, anything, really.

And are they really the best thing for our Market? Buffalo is pushing the hockey thing hard but is all the hype a flash in the pan? A vulnerable and young market (the whole BERFFALO IRS HOCKIE HEVEN!!!!11 thing and the new harbor center stuffs idk you know what I mean). We all want the media to stfu about our "tank" and how we are a "joke" and "embarrassment" and the general opinion of our City held throughout the country.

I don't know what I'm really on about. But maybe not winning the draft or even finishing last isn't the worst thing, in fact maybe it is best in the scenario that it occurs. What would we rather have moving forward, a superstar with his career already written out (TROPIES!!! STANLEY CUPS!!! SCORING!!!!) or a semi-superstar with a chip-on-his-shoulder and an entire team with a similar chip? After that (frank)ing moron Ted Nolan is relieved of his coaching duties and a new guy comes in, not getting a top 2 pick, everyone in the media and other markets STILL calling us an embarrassment (I'd rather have that than them licking our butt-holes), I have more faith in that team.

Maybe its just me.

if they won the lottery, it would be someone's civic duty to light that arena on fire.

Food Lion. I think I remember that from when I lived in Charlotte. Also, Bi-Lo?

Yes, Bi-Lo is here too. My guess is they were at one point owned by the same company that runs Tops because their produce section was all "Walter" themed. Worked out great for me as I'm a Tops chip dip person, NOT Bison.

When we first moved here, the beach was 2 minutes in one direction, and Bi-Lo was 2 minutes the other direction. Now that we own a house, we can't afford to live that close to the beach anymore.

I used to think that but I have worked in a few different places and TOPS, Bi-Lo, Price Chopper, Giant/Giant Eagle, Stop n' Shop (or was it Shop Rite?) all have the same "generic" product line.

Also I worked at Ford Gum and they make generic gum for Tops and Weis markets, both with the same packaging but the brand being blank for whatever supermarket it goes to.

Pretty sure its one big company that they all get their generic stuff from. Or they're all just 1 big company that regionalizes.

But their rewards cards were identical, and their produce section had all that Walter crap like Tops had. I get the brands being made by one company (I was told CVS brand batteries are just duracell or energizers with generic packaging), but this was a bit more.

I don't have my Tops card anymore, but when we first moved down here, I had them side by side and they were identical (well, except one said Tops and one didn't):

I noticed that too, about their rewards cards. IDK, really. I'm sure they're all owned by the same 5 or 6 people anyway.

I shop at Aldi for the most part. Occasionally at Trader Joe's or Wegmans. Tops is WAY too expensive.

Dynamic Threads you make some excellent points. I am sure Strome, Marner, Hanifin etc would all be excellent additions to the Sabres. However, I really believe that we need to get one of the two franchise players available at the top of the draft. Otherwise the last few years (especially this year) have been a complete waste of time.

Last night was brutal. When the Sabres beat Arizona I almost puked. Tomorrow is basically a guaranteed win against the Leafs. That leaves us only 2 points up with 5 games to go. I agree with others who say the Coyotes likely aren't getting any more points this year. They are truly brutal and the Coyotes have all bought into the master tank plan (unlike our coach and team).

The only solution to this is to put Meszaros in net and put Lindback as 1C.

Tops and Bi-Lo were both owned by Ahold until about 2005ish. Ahold is that Dutch company that had that big financial scandal that was in the news in the mid-oughts. It made headlines in Buffalo because Tops was one of the main brands that Ahold was cooking the books with. Wikipedia says neither Bi-Lo nor Tops are currently owned by Ahold.

With his luck Meszaros would probably have a shutout.
