unless someone predicts a top 10 nhl player and firsts coming back you are right.

there aint too many players in the league who score 30 a year and avg 70-80 points who are not worth anything, i cant even name 1.

that's what i see. a first (10-20), a top prospect and a either a top 6 forward or top 4 D (under 25). i think that's fair value and would really benefit the club's youth movement.

but i think the Leafs are going to make the decision to move Kessel or not regardless and it won't be based on return. like they won't say "we'll only deal him IF..." i think they would deal him as much to turn over the roster as anything. they need to cleanse the organization of the people who got them here (including guys like Phaneuf, Lupul, Nonis, Horachek...)

i also think detroit is going to go for dion, they have too many prospects and they will have to make a few roster moves so guys actually get a chance or they walk for nothing eventually. they also have the cap space.
