baseball talk in general puts me to "zzz" - benjichronic
Before the Phillies got competitive around 2007 or so, it was the Flyers' playoff runs before those years that kept unwanted attention from the Phillies' traditional abysmal starts to the season.
The Phillies will have no such luck this year and they will suck, out loud, in the light of day, unless Chip Kelly murders Jeffrey Lurie and declares himself King of Philadelphia.
Then, it will be All Eagle Talk, All the Time. |

At least this year they're not allowing the batter to wander aimlessly, adjust his jock strap, knock the imaginary dirt off of his cleats, adjust whatever body armor he's wearing, and waste 25 seconds or so between every pitch. - jmatchett383
I've hated baseball since I was like 4. My dad is a die hard white sox fan... And every time he puts on a (frank)ing sox game I get sick to my stomach. How can anyone just sit through that? The only time I can watch baseball is at Wrigley, after about 15 beers, consume another 5 at the ballpark, and even then it's pretty torturous. Like you said, the batter takes 2 minutes between every pitch... what the (frank) are they doing? They're playing a sport.. they don't need to be making their uniforms look pretty for the other dudes they're playing against... for (frank)s sake they play a game in DIRT. No poop your uniforms and cleats will get dirty. so between the 15-20 minutes it takes to get the minimum 3 batters through, then you take another 5-10 minutes to let the prima donna's stretch their arms... even though they just threw a ball not 15 minutes earlier.... I don't know... I just really don't understand the sport, don't understand the dynamics, don't understand the fans, don't understand anything about it at all.

I don't like the investment. Realistically, these guys could probably get in a regular game in about an hour 20 minutes. I don't mind baseball in general, but all of the stuff you said just doesn't make it worth it for me. |

But how is that equal to 6 defensemen? - jmatchett383
There are 96 total minutes between PF and C each night. That's 32 for each big man each night. That's about the maximum amount you want to play a big man during the course of the season.
If you have three stud big men, you'll likely need to trade one eventually because of impending FA but that would be a problem for 2-3 years from now.
All of them would get plenty of minutes and there is no shortage of teams looking for young big men with all star potential. |

So I got a new way for the NHL to handle the draft. Once the season is over all non- playoff teams are placed in a single elimination tournament. Winner of the tournament would win the number one pick and so on. This way it would still make teams have a competitive roster and not tank. Plus the NHL would still get major viewing as the games for the draft playoff would be just as good as the Stanley cup playoffs.

Just read that they are making liquor and wine more readily available at Phillies games this year. Looking at their roster, I think that's a very wise move. |
