I like how last week Reinhart was compared to malkin and toews now he is just an add in on a trade by those same people

Correct, but we have to exhaust all possible scenarios
- hubie

Hard not to be optimistic no matter which one you get, along with the glut of prospects and young talent you have already. Plus the Ilses 1st and your high 2nd.... sighhhh.... must be nice. Need to find a goalie for the future though.

Goalie need will be 2 years away. What we have now should work short term or who knows. Our prospects should be producing by then. We have seen a few this season and still a bunch too young but doing great in the jrs.

100% agree ill alwasy say should have taken Fucale over Compher. But if Devan Dubnyk can become sweet from a trade have a feeling TM will go vet/next up goalie at some point.

Ofcourse a rumor of recent past had them rfa Toffolli then Martin Jones, who I think is good but id not bet NHL playoff starter

No, it wasn't Garth I read the Malkin and Reinhart comparisons and wondered where the (frank) did that come from? Maybe just where they were drafted?

That was an idea thrown out there from Travis Yost...Murray seems pretty good at picking up goalies he had a say in Ottawa's Hammand, he's gotten the Sabres adequate goalies, some just considered throw aways at the time in the last two years, Ottawa is deep in goalies. I'm not too worried about getting a goalie right now.

th

there's a bunch of goalers in the pipeline. Its just a matter of at least one of them developing in to something reliable. Plenty of potential, it just takes time.
Lindback is playing much better than his numbers with Dallas suggested.

I guess the real question would be what would Murray take to deal Eichel?
- hubie

I would say if he'd be willing to deal him it would only be because he really likes either Strome or Marner. So that means he'd be only willing to trade down to pick 4 or 5. But what would compensation be? Obviously pick 4 or 5 and, 2016 1st, 2017 1st, an NHL top 6 winger, and a blue chip prospect.

Read this interesting article in regards to eliminate tanking. I actually like the idea

http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...p-nhl-teams-taking-draft/

The jist is the draft order is set based on most points accumulated after a team is eliminated from playoffs. So the team eliminated first will have the most games to accumulate points and earn that #1 draft pick, but will be encouraged to win instead of lose.

Yzerman gave up a return for him but he didn't work out there or Dallas. He was supposed to have some potential. Big goalie, maybe he just needs the right goalie coach.

Interesting idea, but wouldnt it make the leading tanks be even more tanky? You would try to be emilinated first so you would be worse sooner. I dont think i made much sense but thats my m.o.

Exactly, to be honest I kinda like his style of play more, granted I love them both. Fans will really like seeing him throw is body around.
- hubie

Ya. Mcdavid has that blazing speed though & is a heck of a playmaker.
I'm pretty sure Buffalo fans are gonna love whoever we get.
It'll be interesting to see how they're compared against each other throughout their career

When you think of it all of the fan favorites over the years most of the time are the guys who throw their bodies around.

IMO McDavid is the most electrifying player since Mogilny

Theres just that way Mc D plays that makes the game seem like everyone is in slow motion

I doubt he would
He keeps talking about trading quantity for quality (like the Kane deal), so it's hard to imagine him doing the opposite and trading a stud for multiple assets.

No Dice. This idea eliminates the trade deadline. What team would want to sell off their UFA's for picks and prospects if they desperately needed to gain wins so as to add points for the #1 pick. Playoff teams wouldn't be able to stack their teams and it would make for a lesser playoffs. Can you imagine were are rebuild would be if we kept Miller and Ott last year because we were afraid of missing out on Reinhart.

I think it would make the trade deadline MORE interesting. It would be who has the "balls" to make the deal and maybe give up a bit more to get what they need

Murray has said he had discussions with multiple teams about their young goalies. And that he'd revisit that in the offseason.
Presumably, that leads me to believe he's looking or a young goalie that can grow with this team & be around for a while.
That trade will happen when the deal is right, but from what he said before it seems like he wants to do it sooner than later.

Why do u say it's a "2yrs away" kind of move?

I just don't see it. How does a team like Arizona dump all the guys they did at the deadline and then still expect to put together wins so as to get McDavid?

It would just cost the buying team a "bit" more IF those were the guys they thought would put them over he top

There would obviously be a trade off. Get additional draft picks for pending FAs or weaken your team when you are trying to win games for draft pick. I think it would result in better returns for rentals at the deadline.

But I also think you are over thinking it. You would still need to lose games to get eliminated.
