Debateable. It was one steamboat. The problem is that Letang was trying to avoid the hit, skating backwards, and was off balance. Hard to come away uninjured when all 3 of those things happen at once.

Letang made a hockey play. The puck was long gone and it was a check that had no hockey meaning. A bodycheck is supposed to be a tool to seperate a player from the puck. |

Even still, at that speed, when Doan is skating in to finish his check he clearly must be able to see that the puck is leaving Letangs stick & if he wasn't a garbage hockey player he should be focused on turning around to backcheck instead |

The notion of "finishing your check" is ridiculous and serves no purpose other than either to hurt or interfere. |

Maybe he did see the puck was gone. Maybe he didn't care?
I have no problem with the play. I would also have had no problem had it been called a penalty (and notice in the video the ref was looking right at the hit, and called nothing). I would further have no problem if Doan is suspended. |
