I have a question since I enjoy reading (most of) your guys' take on things.

Last year if the Islanders decided to keep their pick for 2015 draft instead of 2014. Who would you have liked the Sabres to take? Is it obvious? Jake Virtanen? Im curious what you guys think?

- NEDinED

Yeah, i think virtanen would have been the pick at 5. i suspect murray would have preferred him to dal colle. i wonder if he would have tried to move back to take larkin, ritchie, or tuch though.

So some ideas to ponder...

Sabres draft McEichel. That's pretty much a given (almost)

What to do with the other first? All of this ROR talk is out there. The late 1st and Grigorenko get it done? The Sabres are weak on RW O'Reilly can start at center and move to RW when Reinhart is ready.

Would LA be interested in a Hodgson and a 2nd swap for Richards and Jones?

July 1st go after Neuvirth

Kane and Moulson are the top 2 LW next year.

Kane McEichel ROR
Moulson Reinhart Ennis
Girgensons Richards Gionta
Foligno Larsson Deslauriers

Risto Bogosian
Gorges Pysyk?
FA McCabe
Weber

Neuvirth
Jones

Babcock as coach keep Irbe as goalie coach and go from there?

Zadorov goes to Rochester

- Stripes77

There is only one natural RW in that lineup, and he is washed up. They need to target someone other than ROR, and if it cost ennis, I'm fine with that.

I am fine moving Ennis if they get a RW coming back. The question is who do you go after?

I agree. Strome looks like he can be a solid #1 center, he's just being over shadowed by all the McEichel hype. As awesome as it would be for the rivalry for us to get McDavid and Toronto to get Strome I still don't want to see it happen. I would like to see us stand alone atop of the east for a few years.

Rumor mill continues as
Pegula is looking into staring his own tv network for the Sabres.

- Buffalo-Sabres

A regional sports network makes sense. He could put all Sabres games and content on there as well as all Bills content minus live games.

I've been saying it since the Leafs started their downward spiral. Kessel. Idk if there is anyone better than that available. Things will get tricky if the leafs finish 28th and win lotto. I doubt they move Phaneuf or kessel if they land mcdavid.

Nolan says Zadorov will be the healthy scratch on defense tonight.

Anyone see this lineup making any kinda run, or will extra pieces be needed?

Letang just took a scary tumble into the boards. He needed a lot of help just to get off the ice.

No doubt it would be Ennis +, but I think Ennis and the NYI 1st would easily get it done. Or maybe Ennis + a prospect would be a good starting point on negotiations.

Agreed. I'm just tired of reading/listening to the all the talk about the draft and oddly hoping my team losses. Drafts don't exist in any other profession in the world. Competence is what success should be about.
- jkuczkowski

there really is no easy answer. I just think the draft is a far more exciting thing than the 1st day of free agency.

Say they draft 3rd or 4th what would it cost to get Kessel? Ennis and the other 1st plus? I'm with you on him. He is a great complimentary piece. He would create one helluva scoring line with Kane and McEichel. Is Ennis and a 1st enough? My guess is we would have to add.

Kaleta is gone. Gionta will be here and that's not enough IMO a lot of unprovens especially on the blue line

I would hope, Ennis, the other first, and a prospect or two would be a enough to land Kessel. Sign Justin Williams or bring back Chris Stewart for the second line. Mike Green to be our PP QB.
