And completely distasteful... and kind of gross. I'd expect that from a Flyers fan, but not a Pens fan...

you can't talk about the Yandle trade without considering that the Coyotes took on half his cap hit this year and next. It's absolute gold.
- jimbro83

It won't be absolute gold if they don't win a Cup. It'll be an absolute disaster (which is what I hope for). Sather took a gamble and has two years to make it work in the window.

Clearly it is challenging since your team has struggled with it for years. As have other teams like the Oilers.

The Rangers did draft high end players in 2013 though. Two of them actually, and both in the 3rd round. We also have the best goalie in the league, he was a 7th round pick.

One SC final in 20 years but we've been more successful than you guys have the last 5 years and have played more playoff games than any team in the league in recent history outside the Kings.

Thats kinda dubbing yourselves the best team to come in 2nd place... which is really just a bad 1st round draft pick.

2nd overall pick, 1st and 3rd overall picks, 2nd overall picks on their Cup winners

Wait, Seguin?? He barely played in Boston's Stanley Cup run......

You're reaching now.

Yandle will stay. Players want to be Rangers. Always have, always will.

Also true, but I would take Wiz over Yandle if the difference meant our top pick and top prospect...

As in winning the Cup or no? For some reason I still feel like they are the underdogs even though they are loaded.
- znagle

They're on a pretty big winning streak right now. Maybe they're due for some bumps in the road just in time for the first round. Or, maybe they have really nice high end scoring on three lines and the Eastern conference is soggy.

If the Penguins keep losing they may get Washington in round one. Chances of playing the Islanders are just above 60% today.

I feel like any team in the East can win it tbh. It will be a battle for whatever team makes it out alive.

Of course they do, Sather likes overpaying players to never win the SC.

For some Penguins news...

Evgeni Malkin says he feels good and if there's no pain or soreness tonight, there's a "great chance" he could play tomorrow.

i wish. he used to. that was their MO. he has really learned to rein himself in, and with it has come a lot of smart decisions. getting mcdonagh for gomez still was such a stroke of good fortune that cant be denied, but things like having the balls to walk away from callys demands, swapping out two guys that needed a change of scenery in del zotto for klein, locking up their own defenders in house, maybe by giving them a half mil or mil more than they would ideally be worth, but ultimately still less than they would get on the open market.

nash and hank are the only 2 huge cap numbers, and its impossible to say nash isnt earning his right now. and while i dont like spending a ton on a goalie, hanks been one of the best in the game to virtually the point of being automatic.

Lundqvist- he's excellent but I would never pay a goalie big money as Talbot was just as effective. Boston is in the same bind with Rask.
Girardi- he's terrible and a major hole in their roster.
Staal- solid dman, but definitely not dynamic enough to warrant his extension.
Glass- not an NHL player.

The Rangers will have some issues in the offseason, especially if the cap doesn't goes up. You guys have 2 top 6 forwards to sign, (I'm guessing Stepan is the biggest piece), plus all our young forwards need new deals, and only about 10M to do it with.

you are out of your mind

This is funny. This entire blog is a major cry baby fest about all the Penguins injuries right?

Yet, you have no appreciation for a guy who is an absolute rock on the Rangers blueline, probably the single most durable player in the NHL.
