Good enough to finish just above .500 and out of the playoffs.

You can't say it's the worst in the division, and there isn't a rotation I would proclaim as the best.
Not good enough to win a playoff series though. - BetterCallSaul
Sanchez and Norris are wild cards..have no idea how they will fair over a full season.
I was much more hopeful with Stroman as basically the #1
Future still looks bright but I am getting low on patience .. some playoffs would be (frank)ing nice |

No, it doesn't. If Strome is a legit 1C and he's the best player available then it's a no-brainer. But if you think his skating or whatever will keep him as a 2C and you have a potential 1D on the table you take the defenceman.
There will be another chance at a 1C over the next five years while this team still sucks. - BetterCallSaul
There are rumblings that it's more likely that Hanifin might top out as a #2 D |

The jays need luck, careers years and a healthy roster.....then maybe the playoffs.
But I hear ya.....starving for playoffs.
And the NBA kind....but I'll take that |

Uh?
No one thinks he will be a number 2C.....if they did, then this wouldnt even be a discussion. The discussion is a potential number 1C or potential 1/2D.
The leafs need the 1C.
If you think the leafs will draft in the top 5 over the 5 years......youre kidding yourself. - Fakepartofme
Are you serious? I think assuming the opposite would be kidding myself.
And don't assume he will be that Mats Sundin style 1C. You can hope, and he projects to be that. But don't speak as though you're certain, because you're not. |

2 .500 pitchers who at different times have had incredible seasons
3 young pitchers with high ceilings.
Most exciting rotation in a long time, definitely not the best on paper but "on paper" is meaningless in baseball. |

Im not asssuming that.
But what I am assuming is the leafs could be bottom 5 next year.
But with a new coach, new system, better caring players, and the lack of real patience from ownership.....they'll be middle of the pack within two years. |

This team is still going to hit bombs. Should be fun games to watch at least. |

I would tend to agree.
But mostly because I can't see the Leafs waiting 5 years before spending all that available cash on free agents. |

The team is just stacked with hitting. Bats, Edwin, Reyes, Donaldson, Martin. 4 huge question marks though after that. |

Maybe. They could pull a Calgary and fight for a playoff spot. I doubt it though, and think that would be counter productive to the Shaniplan.
To close out our last conversion, I wouldn't be upset if they took Strome. I think he's going to make a very good NHL player. All I'm saying is if Hunter and them think Hanifin or Marner will make a better player, they need to choose one of them. |

I wouldn't call Saunders a question mark, I think he'll fit in nicely. Not Melky's bat, but still good. |

With all this talk of locker room chemistry and leadership we've been having about the Leafs, perhaps bringing in those two and jettisoning Lawrie might make a difference on it's own. |

In terms of health. He's missed a hell of a lot of games due to injury in the last 2 years. But if healthy he will be very solid. 2B and 1B are black holes. |

Woah, you guys are taking that our of context.
I'm trying to keep people's expectations down. There have been posts recently comparing him to players like Sundin. Which is ridiculous.
I meant he projects to be a 1C, but there's no guarantees. |

Much like many other players in history....he simply was drafted way too early.
he's really bad

People like to bring up the Kelowna Rockets successful defender program. Schenn is the only one that didn't stay for at least a 3rd year. It likely played a role. |
