>Not being a smart a** but it's Baun -- his grandfather was quite the Dman -- mainly with the Leafs

So with Baun choosing the Hawks and Paliotta NOT choosing free agency and dancing with the team that brung him...

...does that mean the Hawks are now a land of opportunity?

- ArlingtonRob

Why can you play in the RS but not the tournament? makes no sense to me

>Once again, right you are
>Remember him well -- had the chance to see him quite a bit at the old barn when he was in his prime -- and I was a "wee one"

Players under contract that play in the AHL must be on the big club roster on trade deadline day to be eligible to play in the regular season until the playoffs start.
That's TT, Nordstrom and Darling for example....Raanta and the others in Rockford can't play in Chicago now.

But a player that was not under contract like Baun and Paliotta can play in the regular season but EDIT only Paliotta can play in the playoffs.

Thank you sir! If Paliotta and Baun light it up that wound be a tough pill to swallow going into the playoffs. Still ecstatic about both signings. Now this is a PRECEDENT

I think Palliota(sp) may be available as he is actually a draft pick.

I edited my comment as Paliotta can play in the playoffs because he was on the reserve list. So because he was Hawks property Paliotta like the others in Rockford now, can play in the playoffs.

I forgot he was a draft pick.

So now that the Hawks have signed Paliotta and Braun and they are both coming right to the NHL club, what is the over under on how long after they play in an NHL game until the narrative on this board from some people changes to "My God, these kids are not ready for an NHL game, how stupid can Q and Bowman be?"

- TheTrob

Massive surprise if either is ready. Not about now. It does help down the line though. Avoiding the loss of Paliotta - a 3rd rounder (where would he be in this year's draft) certainly doesn't hurt. I see Baun as a replacement for 1 of those picks given up for Vermette or Timmo. The Wings were hard after Baun apparently too.

Before Baun and Paliotta signed the roster was already at 23, how do they fit in the 2 newbies?
