I was also a bit confused as to why it would be heated

Kimmo desperately wanted to play again. Hextall wasn't sure if he should allow him to given the blood clots.

If the doctors clear him to play I wouldn't think Hexy would have much of a choice

The good ol' bandwagon syndrome.. Pittsburgh seems to be another huge offender with that. And no, it's not because I don't like them. You see all of these fan girls (and some boys) wearing Crosby jerseys.. and you ask them to name players on the team, and it's usually "Crosby.. Malkin.. Fleury... anddddd... andddd..." Maybe they bounce one or two other ones off the wall that they dream about having coitus with, but that's usually it.

All fanbases have "those people", but some do tend to be worse than others..

this happened with the phillies and it was awful.

the only silver lining of this season. will purge some of those

Yep. It seems to be the bane of every true fan, following a few(or one) solid season(s)..

They can't retire numbers of non Hall of Famers. Flyers just don't do it.

If the Phillies don't drop ticket prices, they'll be playing to 1/3 capacity. The Flyers will still play to 70%+ even if they slightly raise ticket prices.

I fully expect Niinimaa and Timonen to be inducted into the HHOF within 5 years. Pitkanen might have to wait an extra year or two while superstars like Dany Heatley and Martin Havlat try to get in.

For what it's worth, as asinine as the majority may be, they're a pretty damn faithful bunch. In the early 90s, in 06/07, and even now, they still get a good turnout. Some other fanbases play to a few thousand people when the local team has seasons like that.
