With good reason. When Thomas Hickey leads all players in ice time and your seventh defenseman(Brian Strait) is getting over 22 minutes a night it makes it tough to like him.
- Cptmjl

So he's playing less than prominent players in big situations kind of thing? Resting top guys or giving them lighter minutes? I haven't been paying attention but it seems like the Islanders guys are pissed that the Rangers have gone past them in the standings and any changes surrounding the lineup and minutes distribution is the key element in question.

If I was Jack I would probably do the same thing and get my guys ready and rested to play that 60-minute forecheck annihilation game. Keeping that up every other night against quality opposition is going to be a real challenge.

It's not that easy of an explanation. When players have a four day break in between games healthy scratching or as he puts it "resting" your players when you're playing one of the best teams in the league is stupid. Especially when you're fighting for home ice. We lost four in a row our record has been subpar since the allstar break which not so coincidentally coincides with these mind numbing personnel decisions. Strait getting 22 minutes a night. Thomas Hickey leading all players in ice time the other night and he was by far the worst player on the ice for both teams. DeHaan getting benched over Donovan and Strait. Good example was Marty Reasoner starting in game one against you guys in the playoffs after being a healthy scratch for 30 games prior. Capuano called him a "playoff warrior". We lost that first game 5-0 and Reasoner was directly responsible for 4 of those goals idk if you remember?

Every fan and every writer for the Islanders/hockey were absolutely puzzled by the move before that game even started and with good reason. Nino Niderreiter playing 4 minutes a game on a line with Pandolfo and Reasoner for an entire season. Andrew MacDonald getting over 26 minutes a night and turning over the puck EVERY shift multiple times.

I can go on and on with this. "Resting" players when our schedule has finally lightened enough to give them 3 to 4 days rest makes little sense. Yeah the Rangers passing us sucks but that in no way helped any Islander fan form an opinion of Capuano. The vast majority of us have disliked him for these reasons and many more a long, long time ago.

Capuano is a special needs adult. Really no other way to describe his coaching decisions.

Yeah, that's me being a foreigner. Scoring here means goals, assists, secondary assists, i.e. points. To me scoring means goals.

You score a goal, but you don't score an assist, you get an assist.

- chimpira

I used to have a coach that would say Gretzky was the worst thing to happen to hockey because people started to think that an assist was just as/more important than goals.

Kovy was a beast, still a dbag for what he did though.

87 still the best even though many think he needs to do more. LOL.

Pens were whining so much vs Detroit, they get 0 PP's from the refs as punishment, i also think the Yotes threw that game Sat night, no goalie makes that play trying to win a game by shooting it off Sutter.

That was the most blatant thing I've ever seen...

But to be fair, Patrick Kane and Tyler Seguin both had bad injuries while at the top, as well as this being a goalie's year and players won't even hit the 90 point mark for the season. Down year for offense in general point wise. Yeah Crosby had down year, but if the other players didn't have a down year then Crosby wouldn't have had such an easy time getting back to the top.
- arichardson22

What you just said made absolutely no sense.

"Its been harder for everyone to score, including Crosby. So that's why its been so easy for Crosby to get more points than everyone else."

Crosbys the best hockey player on earth. Can we go back to arguing about Adams, or if Downie helps/hurts the team. Discussion about super stars is so boring especially for a Pens fan.

Adams sucks. Downie helps more than he hurts.

All the topics this season have been covered and everyone has their sides that they probably won't back down from this late into the game. I don't think we're gonna have any interesting conversation until the playoffs.

I have nothing against LA, but excuse me if I don't cry if a team that has won two Stanley cups in the past five years doesn't make the playoffs.

Was your coach handicapable? Did he take a special bus to the rink?

Sid is still the best in the league.

Could not agree with you more The fhead caused this league to suffer and he is admired by people. That further proves what I have been saying for years now.PEOPLE ARE STUPID

Actually, you might want to put more thought into why Lou employed the defensive strategies in the 1st place. Free Agency and no salary cap made it so the only way you could win with a modest payroll was to play tight hockey. It sucks, but being from a small market like yourself (I as well) we dont to go back to old days when 6 teams had all best players and could buy championships.

I think it was more that Lou new he didn't have any star players and still doesn't so that's why he wants the game to stay the way it is. You might think I'm bias because of the team I cheer for but I actually like to see what star players are capable of. Why should no talent hacks or guys with limited talent be able to clutch and grab and interfere to hold back the star players? It's really simple for the NHL to have a quality product that people will watch and not have a snore fest and actually continue to grow the game. That is call the game by the book it's that simple. Yes PP's will be many at first but players will adjust. Then you will start seeing more scoring chances which will lead to a more exciting game. Notice I didn't say more goals because I don't have to have high scoring games for a game to be good, but lets allow for some creativity on the ice and some scoring chances. The NHL always wants to tinker with the game for more scoring supposedly most of them not going to help, but they never want to enforce the rules.
