I know noone will believe me but I always thought dubnyk was a decent tender. I watched him play for canada at the worlds and remarked that he looked solid to me. I think he just got wrecked playing in Edmonton. Good to see he's back

i'll believe you. i thought he had the tools to be a good one and just needed the right environment. i'm happy for him, and it looks like minneosta might have found their next goalie.

say the flyers finish with the 6th overall pick. would you trade it for nail?
- stayinthefnnet

Sure. If they add Pitts 2015 1st and a 2016 1st.

That's a tough one. I think I would keep them all for another year to see who progresses the most (if at all).

If one of Coots, B.Schenn, or Laughton can show they can be a dependable 2 way threat at 2C, then I seriously consider moving Giroux. He would bring the best return, while opening up cap space for other pieces. Plus that is one hell of a salary to pay for a 2c.

If none of Coots bschenn or Laughton shows us they can be our 2c, then all are available for trade.

Ideally we would be able to keep them all, move G back to rw where he started his career. Move Voracek to 2RW and have balanced scoring lines

Interesting but I don't trade g. Schenn or coots I'd flip right away for help on the wings or d. G is your 1 centre and mcdavid your 2. It's be a great problem to have.

I get what you're getting at but for the Flyers, no. I'd rather a LW, C or D man in this particular draft class.
- hereticpride

fair enough.

i dont know if i would part with a top 10 pick either.

i like perron a lot.

but man i wish i had something to actually give a poop about with this draft, seeing as how it will be another quick postseason for the pens.

It definitely would be.

I look at it like this, pit has an elite center and a generational center in malkin and Crosby. They're in cap hell from having to pay both of them.

The flyers would be in the same boat with g being an elite center and mcdavid being a generational talent. I'd keep g for a year or two or 3 to tutor mcdavid. When he's ready to take over the 1c position, that's when I would trade g.

Probably not the most popular opinion I'll admit, but I feel it's the best use of the available assets.

Just glad hextall stuck to his plan and didn't try to go for the playoffs. He sold off it looks smart now. Come June I'm hoping to have something to be excited about regarding this team.

if you think you can move giroux in some doughty-esque deal, then i understand it. but i dont think i would move on just from a salary perspective.

i know some will automatically dismiss it, but i do think it can work with 2 high priced guys. you just need to be able to maximize value elsewhere throughout the lineup. the pens simply have not done this.

hextall played it perfectly in my opinion. managed to sell and get top dollar for his assets, all while not removing anything from the team that at the time was playing and in contention for the 8 seed.

got assets without really putting up the white flag with a frantic wave.

Only thing I wish is that we might have been able to sell a bit more. Flawed team with no chance to win the cup. Hexy said he could have traded more and prob should have in retrospect.

The way I see it, is they can afford to wait a year or two and see how the d prospects pan out.

Maybe Sanheim is the only one who turns into a top pairing defenseman. Maybe none of them do.

But by trading G they could (in theory) get the final piece or two that they need to put them over the top. Would I love to keep G in this theoretical? Of course, but if there's a deal out there that puts them over the top I do it no questions asked.

Last question for the night:

You are a GM candidate.

You have these jobs available to you, with these conditions:

Toronto Maple Leafs, where you can do anything you want with the organization...but must make the playoffs in Year 4

Florida Panthers, where you can do whatever you want with the organization but must make the playoffs in Year 2

St. Louis Blues, but must make the Cup final in two years OR win in three...and again, you can do whatever you want in the organization

Where you headed?
