So, I think I know how the usual suspects will answer, but I still want to throw this out there and see if anyone wants to add their thoughts to their position

But if Ottawa wins tonight, they are in playoff position, after being behind the Flyers and not looking good maybe...20, 25 games ago?

So is it good for them that they didn't roll over, even if they ultimately don't make it? At one point, they were poised to pick sixth or seventh. Or is it pointless to have made the run -- even though they are, as of this moment, 25 minutes of gameplay from passing Boston -- if they don't make it?

Apparently many teams are considering him at the least for a management spot.......why not consider him here since Hextall has yet to fill his Assistant GM role & see if he'd work with goalies as well.

Personally, I think you want a coach separate from management.

Yes, if they miss by a point or two, it is good for a young team to have made a run, under a new coach.

Coaching to some might be considered a form of management

Rumor is that he is willing to force issue after season to ensure a trade or buyout. Retirement or mutual termination won't happen.

I think both are gone. Vinny via trade or buyout, Berube gets fired after break-up day

Berbue would be gone first, it's probably the easier move to make.

Is it fair to say your thinking is predicated on them being closer to the playoffs than the Flyers were in 2013?

Because I understand that logic, if that is the case. Just talking hockey on a Monday night

I am wondering if the distinction for most is how close you actually get, as opposed to the Fluers in 2013, who just got back to .500, no matter what MOAT says about their record, that damn liar

Never.
There is no situation in which I would cheer for that team to win.

No

I'm not good at explaining things. It's a timing thing, once the shot gets to the deflection point, then the goalie changes his angle.

No way a goalie can react that fast

Not really, they have a lot of good youngster making up most of the core of their team. A good playoff race, whether or not they make it, will help them grow and learn.

They only have a couple guy who are part of the core who are older. Michalek, Legwand and Phillips are only key skaters over 30

Ah. So you don't necessarily buy the theory of some that there is little to no carryover from season to season?

(Again, folks, just talking hockey. Anyone can certainly feel free to change the subject, as they choose, if this bores them)

It depends on the team. I thought the strong finish for the Flyers in the lockout season would help carry over. It didn't. But I do think that young teams can gain confidence and experience from a playoff fight/race.

Ok. Next question:

You have the opportunity to trade Brayden Schenn right now for the 33rd pick in the 2015 draft. That opportunity will not be available any other time. Do you do it?

No right or wrong answers -- yes or no is totally fine, further elaboration is also cool

I think I would want more than that. So no. And by that I mean I would rather get a player who is already NHL ready, preferably a top 4 defenseman. The pick itself is too much of a crap shoot.

That's my qualifier, I'd have to see who was on the board. impossible to tell that now.

OK. Next question:

You are a GM candidate. You interview for three open positions, with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Buffalo Sabres and the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the owner of each tells you two things:

You can do whatever you want, but I have to be in the Cup finals in three years and win it at some point over the next five years, or you are fired.

Where do you go?
