isn't this what you guys wanted? to miss the playoffs, suck and get a high pick?
- JoeRussomanno

I wanted them to try to fix this team without gutting the prospects. When it became obvious they had no intention on fixing anything I wanted them to feel bad and i wanted everyone to recognize it rather than go into this season thinking the Flyers could make the playoffs and do anything.

We're just sitting here watching contract years burn.

I know it's painful to watch current assets essential wear off their value uselessly, but drafting is the only way to go. There are always new assets for the taking through the draft. Hell, a 6th-8th pick is still very in range to get a future 1st line center. I'm not saying replace Giroux, I'm just saying that we shouldn't make major team decisions based solely on his age. Out of the 3 major positions usually needed by a cup contender (elite center, elite dman, elite goalie), I think elite centers are probably the easiest to get. I could even see Hexy making a serious push for the 1st pick this year. I think he did that last draft, right?

Tortorella is an ass

Case closed.

If you combined him and Bylsma you would have one coach I don't want the Flyers to hire

And if you split them up again, you have two coaches I don't want them to hire.

So, what you're saying -- and I'm trying not to be dense -- is that the Flyers and Kings permanently negated an NTC because it hadn't kicked in when they made the trade...but all other terms of the contract such as salary and term remain intact?
- AllInForFlyers

Any movement clause gets nixed in a trade. The new team can agree to honor/renew it, but you can imagine how often that happens.

They hopefully are fixing the team. It's just frustrating it has to take so long. Something we are not used to. It seems like the Leafs and us are the last teams to succumb to the reality of a cap environment.

I don't know much about goaltender science, so this could be an old idea, but I think a goalie should get square to the deflecting forward on obvious tip in or shot pass scenarios

Ehh I think the goalie has to cover the shooter. On 2 on 1s, the goalie always gets the shooter, and the dman's job is to cover a pass. If there's a defender in front on a tip in attempt, I think it's more his job to either block the shot, or tie up the stick of the deflecting forward. If he didn't, it'd be a simple ordeal for the shooter to just shoot past the goalie every time.

Bare with me, I'm not good at explaining things. It's a timing thing, once the shot gets to the deflection point, then the goalie changes his angle.

Ya, that sounds logical. I don't really know anything about it so I'm just talking out of my ass.

Ha! So, yeah

It worked out well for the Flyers, but yeah, those were pretty much a-hole moves even more than I realized, because I didn't realize their NTCs never took effect

Sean Burke granted permission by Coyotes to speak with other teams about management positions. Told he's talked with several clubs.

New assistant GM/goalie coach in waiting?

"ok if you will be our goalie coach for a few years we will let you simultaneously get your feet wet as assistant GM to gain experience."

would love this.

Apparently many teams are considering him at the least for a management spot.......why not consider him here since Hextall has yet to fill his Assistant GM role & see if he'd work with goalies as well.
