It would be rally nice if the Flyers can get one of the bog wingers like Baun or possibly Ahti Oksanen.

I saw Casey Bailey signed with Toronto.

In that case, I guess he can return.

From Brooks' article -- an important stipulation left off on previous link's article:

If he sits for a year -- he'd just need the Devils consent to return.

I don't think Uncle Lou will forgive and forget that easily.

I've said multiple times this season that I don't lay the blame for the Flyers' struggles this season on Craig Berube -- it's the roster, folks -- and that I thought he'd be back next year.

I based that on the fact that the GM -- whether you agree or disagree with the why/outcome -- didn't do a damn thing to help this roster this season. Not a single trade that added a healthy roster player this season -- Radko Gudas was acquired, obviously, but is injured.

But my thinking has shifted over the past few weeks, since Jeff Reese got turfed AND Craig Berube's subsequent handling of Steve Mason. Combined with the bizarre handling of Mason all season by the Flyers, I do believe that some kind of systemic issue is in play here that will see Chief fired, and I won't be surprised in the slightest if Mason gets moved.

I know the latter sounds crazy. But there's a rhythm to how the Flyers do things, and something's just not right about this management's connection to Mason, I feel.

Just my opinion, but there's some kind of stench there, and I don't know that Berube will be the only one who gets the gate.

I'd still like to separate G + V and create a harder defensive matchup.
UFA LW – Giroux – Simmonds
Schenn – Couturier – Voracek
Straka – White/Cousins/Laughton – Read
VandeVelde – Bellemare – White/Rinaldo

No Raffl? If Raffl isn't in the lineup, but Rinaldo is, I am going to be very angry.

Somehow, I find it might be very, very difficult for Kovalchuk to get approval from, at least, one very, very displeased franchise located about 90 miles north of here.
- Moose_15

Eh, I think the only thing they may care about is preferring that he be in the western conference. As for him leaving and coming back I don't see them caring really. They got a big benefit from his leaving.

Seems like decades ago when he and Heatley were the faces of the Thrashers organization.

Just a question

If you have decide between resigning White of Vandevelde, who would you pick? I think this might be something they do next season.

My pick would be White.

They traded for him then resigned him in the offseason. They could have waited for the offseason to sign him. It's not like he gave them a discount.

Also if I rememeber correctly, Parise chose to go home to MIN to play. He was a UFA, so it didn't matter how lucrative the offer from NJ was since he had his choice of where to play.

Its nice to see NJ barren of talent and no Marty to bail them out either.

and yet still be passing us in the standings, which they will do once they make up their two games in hand.

I looked forward to his retirement for so many years. It's not satisfying knowing that the Flyers suck too though

That is also nice to see, since we all want the 6th pk instead of the 7th.

I would rather see the 6th pick instead of the 7th too. But it's nothing to be happy about. It means our team sucks.

World Class Talent.

But he basically franked the Devils -- their subsequent draft classes -- and their financials.

They couldn't re-sign Parise, too, because of their massive investment into Kovalchuk.

- Moose_15

Puh-leez....don't cry for the Devils. They knew exactly what they were doing when they let him walk with nary a peep of protest.

The thing is, the Devils struggles this year have nothing to do with goaltending. Schneider is second in the NHL with a .929 save %.

Their issue is having a roster full of old men. I believe they have something like 12 or 13 players on their roster who are 30+.

I know man, I'm making light of a bleak situation. I rather be closer to the top of the draft order than squeek in the playoffs with a roster like the one we have though. I hate that perpetual limbo of just making the playoffs, early exit, mid-round pk, second verse, same as the first...

I just hope we can reap the rewards of a terrible season in this draft and that Hexy miraculously turns the team around in one year. Wishful thinking?

When is the draft lottery? Does anyone know? It's the next thing I'm looking forward to.

If there's no way to trade him, I'd seriously consider biting the bullet and hope that the cap rebounds in a few years
- Jsaquella

I don't think it makes sense to do a buyout this summer when the Flyers will have no trouble getting under the ~$71m cap.

Exactly... Yes it sucks, but now that its happening, forget winning and losing. Play guys like Manning, Cousins more. Gets Couts into a different role. See what guys can do with "the pressure off" and in different situations.
