Pretty sure you can find the parade plans in the Toronto Municipal archives somewhere. We just gotta dig it out when it's time again.

"An NHL GM on Phil Kessel: “I love Phil Kessel’s talent. I don’t care what’s happening in Toronto right now, he’s better than that. If I can find a way to make a deal for Kessel, I’m going to make it.” He didn’t say what he was willing to give up in exchange"

And that's from Steve Simmons.

So according to every one here, it's complete bullpoop, since it comes from Simmons?

I think Strome is good enough that after another year in junior he could make the Leafs as a 19 year old. He's got the size and skill to pull it off. Would it hurt his development? Maybe a bit, some time in the ahl wouldn't hurt; however, I think he is a high quality prospect that could pull it off and be alright.

Nylander and Brown should also be ready to make the jump by then. Could be a nice injection of quality youth..

I actually think that the depth of despair in Kessel's game (and most other Leafs) is so (frank)ing terrible that GM's can more easily write this off (Jan - April) as nothing to be worried about.

I mean 3 ES points in his last 35 games. This isn't a slump this is apathy/mutiny or whatever you want to believe it is ....it's not a realistic view of anybody's ability.

By June we'll be hearing dozen's of roomerz. The price tag for these types of talents are pretty well established. Richards, Carter, Nash ....etc...

So if Bailey was eleigible for the draft this year,. Where would he be projected to go? 3rd round?

He would go undrafted because he would be a 23 year old in the NCAA.

If he is quoting a GM... and I am sure he has sources...thats fine.
as long as he is not providing his opinion on hockey.

Doesn't matter. Toronto has they money to gamble on undrafted players with ELCs and contract space. If he doesn't pan out, I really don't see it as a loss. Medium case scenario, we can trade him for a second rounder come deadline next year.

Wait, he won't "pan out" in Toronto, so some schmuck GM will give up a 2nd rd pick for him?

I don't think he's really saying anything controversial here. Kessel's going to be in demand. The cost is fairly established. Leafs aren't going to rob anybody ..and they won't get robbed themselves.

Although I realize your point was that we're a bunch of whiny female doges who only like reporters when they say things we like and unfortunately I can't argue with that.

I have absolutely no doubt that there is a market for Phil Kessel.

My guess is most fans won't like what Kessel brings back in a trade. I think it will be similar to the Nash deal.

1st rounder, A roster player like Dubinsky and some top prospect who may make the jump within a year or two.

Most fans I think are expecting a 1st rounder, a top player established already and then a top prospect who's going to be a top center or dman. I don't think this happens.

Those two scenarios are mutually exclusive, hence why I mentioned them in two separate sentences.

He said "middle case". IE he's not something we don't already have, so we don't really need him, but another team wants him. ie. all the guys we traded this deadline.
