You're suggesting Arizona will lose 15 straight to end the season and I think there is little chance that happens.
- Pierceme69

I don't know they are in a small market no one gives a poop about the team, copping stuff all flack for tanking, they could put out a bantam team and no one would care.

carried except for domi, duclair, petan, mcdavid, lazar, nurse, Theodore, morrisey?

reinhart was great in the wjc's no doubt. and this isnt an argument that he wont be a good nhl'er, but he absolutely did not carry Canada. two different things completely.

that was a great team top to bottom and you let abit of homer take over if you think he carried that team in any way

- Ihateallofu

I should have said carried Canada through the prelims since he was by far their best player. I would argue team Canada didn't start hitting their stride until the medal round. But Reinhart at least during the prelims was by far their best player. Granted team Canada didn't need just 1 player to carry them but he was their best player most of the tournament.

IMO Nurse and Reinhart were the two most impressive players for what they did for Canada.

Reinhart took a bunch of key draws and made a ton of smart plays, Nurse looked like a #1 defensemen. Domi was flashy, and great at times but he wasn't their MVP IMO

So I went to see one of the best DJ's ever (arguably) Saturday night after the Preds/Sabres game and was pretty hammered at the time when he did a remix if "Hey Nineteen" - Steely Dan.... It was epic.

Agreed, nobody carries team canada, that's what makes them so good.
- Sabresfan-365

this. they had so much depth. at every position.

even that 4th line of crouse, Ritchie and Gauthier was fantastic in limited minutes

both were great.
I also liked bowey on the back end a lot. and I loved petan up front.

but either way, 'best player' (which is debateable) shouldnt in any way suggest 'carried' them

in the worlds juniors???
or just in general?

cause crouse was anything but bad in his role on that team. big, strong on the puck and has great hands and moves.

that tournnament is the biggest reason hes where hes at in the rankings actually

Older group at this one... This DJ started in the late 80's. Mostly drinking with some extra stuff there sprinkled in the crowd.

id bet anything that unbiased and/or non sabre fans don't agree
with this statement whatsoever.

best by far?
carried them in the prelims?

what tournament did you watch?

that was a dominant effort by an entire team. 4 lines deep. 2 true scoring lines. an offensive top pair, a fantastic shutdown pair.
good goaltending.
like no weak links hardly.
your statements totally downplay the stellar play of nic petan, mcdavid, domi, bowey, nurse, lazar, duclair etc etc..
Like it was reinhart, then a bunch of lesser players. if that's what you saw, you need take the glasses off.

no one carried that team in any way shape or form. they could've won without any one of the stars that played well imo.

it would be no less silly for me to say that nurse carried them actually. and he was by far their best player.
I don't think he carried them by any means, but he was certainly one of their best players

we can argue who we thought was their best player if you like, that's fine.
but youre absolutely confusing the term 'carried' with best.

Strome/O'reilly, Reinhart, Girgensons.

Can you win the cup with 3 of those 4 down the middle?

I think you can.

Ergo, all will not be lost if Arizona continues the completely pathetic play it has been showcasing.

This is the PeptoBismol that the fanbase has needed for its Tank Indigestion. And, of course, you're right. There is more than one way to skin a cat, and we should be willing to use any strategy available.

oh totally.
in niemi's case, I think they coulda won with any scrub.
but most cup winners have stellar tending. quick and Thomas come to mind immediately. they were walls

but I was just sayin

Even Detroit went out & got Cujo and then Hasek BC they valued the goaltending position so much.

Ppl who say goaltending isn't an important issue for us are just crazy IMO.
Look at why it's taken the Oilers & Nyi so long to show improvement with all their young talent.
NYi finally got Halak, and I don't think it's a mystery that they're now a playoff team & Edmonton is still struggling.
That's, of course, not the only factor, but still a very important one

in EDM's case, I'd say they need to shore up defence first. or as well as in goal anyway.
but a quality goaltender that can instill confidence in the core would do wonders for this group.
scrivens is a solid backup. Nothing more. U can bet mact is in the market for a true starter this offseason.

I'd assume lindback gets an opportunity next season, but a rebuilding team absolutely needs consistency in net.

Ask Florida how big Luongo's been for them.
Or Calgary with hiller.
both rebuilding. Both get quality tending. Both take steps forward

Probably won't matter this year since the Bills will most likely sell out their games anyway.

Absolutely agree about Florida & Calgary as well

If u guys get Hanifin & a decent goalie (niemi?), I'll bet u guys start your rise up the standings next year.
If I'm the Oilers, I'm also re-signing Derek Roy. He's a decent #2 who it seems like has chemistry with Yakupov (who u should def not trade). Having that 2nd line that can score is huge, plus, Draisaitl then then be your 3c until he's ready for the top6.
Nurse is probably ready by now too I'd think.
Might not be a playoff team yet...
But those moves would def have u guys headed in the right direction

I've had an Oilers jersey since I was a little kid cheering for Gretzky.
I think after this season both our teams will start moving their way up the standings

I stand by this. With Reinhart as a # 1 center, this team becomes a good one. With Reinhart as a #2 center, this team becomes a great one. After the disaster that has been the last three years (or more depending on who you talk to), to me, only the latter is acceptable.
- buffalofan19

How can you consider this "Purposeful Rebuild" a disaster? You suggest we as fans didn't know what was coming our way when we traded away our top end talent. WE ALL KNEW WHAT WAS COMING, so enough of "We deserve it" there are a number of teams that have been struggling just as long and for different reasons than we have. This idea, that IF we don't land one of the TWO we are a total WASTE, is completely out of line. You go on, and on about teams who didn't have two great centers but had other talent around them, without even knowing what our youth will develop into. How do you know we won't have a "Great" defensive group, how do you know we won't have star players. We have the STRONGEST prospect pool in the entire league and you simply DISMISS them as not being anything. I understand you want one of the TWO but to suggest that this team will never become a Champion without one of them is simply your opinion. I know when our youth matures, with

Kane/Reinhart/Moulson
Ennis/Girgensens/Foligno
Gregerenko/Strome/ Baptiste
Compher/Larson/Fasching
