Either that or they don't believe in his system.

Then again, they keep feeling like they're getting screwed by the refs (which they have been at times) and their coach stands on the bench doing his best Fred Rogers impersonation.

Something is definitely up. It's hard to believe what we're seeing. There's virtually no scoring chances. No effort to win any battles. I'm stunned.....I guess I shouldn't be.

This almost looks like they quit on the coach. I haven't seen effort like this out of a Pens team since they quit on Therrien. Sad...

Not at all opposed to firing the coaches during this intermission. Did Mario make the trip? How 'bout EJ? Mickey Mouse?

You're missing two big names on the underachievers list: Crosby and Malkin.

You could argue that Crosby hasn't been outstanding and you could generate some support but Malkin has pretty much carried this team at times...

Malkin has one power play goal since December 8th. He's played like a juggernaut at times, but he's disappeared for long stretches, too.

Agreed. Losers of 4 straight (out scored (11-2) and they come out, against one of the worst teams in the league, and take 10+ minutes to generate a single shot is inexcusable. The patients run the asylum (and they know it). It's been this way since Thierren was sacked. I think the core is not coach-able; meaning superstar ego's that know better AND do not need to be taught or shown how to improve. This, I believe, is what separates Pgh from teams like Chi. They need a disciplinarian (e.g. Keenan-style). Think Kane & Toews play for Quenneville, or are interested in getting him fired-up by not listening/ playing the way he dictates?

Don't complain about the team not getting any of the bounces.

Funny how that works. Put in some effort and bounces start to go your way.

I don't buy it... Malkin and Hornquist are out... all teams have lapses... I'm not saying that they are ready to make a run but there is a middle ground...
