I appreciate the thought even. I really like the desert. I'm not a person who cares a lot about having seasons. 5 months of winter and then humid summers bum me out.

You should fit in fine here just don't let this town take you over, you will never recover. I don't have any vises or weaknesses nor does my wife so it's all good.

Yes you do, you don't pick a D man, we need scoring not another D man.
- SABRES 89

Good defense leads to good offense
And just BC this team can't score NOW, doesn't mean it won't next year
Kane, Reinhart, Grigorenko & Larsson will all help that
And there's a good chance Hodgson (I know u hate him) gets back to scoring as well

Unfortunately, unless one or more of those guys exceed expectations, it's not good enough to make you a championship team.
- buffalofan19

Idk about that
What can't Reinhart become a #1 center?
Look at the #2 & #3 centers the Kings & Hawks won with...
Girgensons is gonna be at least as good as any of them, and Larsson looks to me like he's at least a comparable 3c to guys like Stoll & Bolland, etc

It doesn't exactly scream out "Championship", either.
- grand-magus

Depends on if Reinhart becomes a #1
And I left out Grigorenko who could still work out or be traded for someone that does

I like to play blackjack but I've been to Vegas 3 times and I barely spent any time at the casinos. I'm kind of stingy so I don't gamble very much.

ive been reading this a lot.
not saying youre wrong, but what has grigs done to earn a bigger look?
just his talent and pedigree alone u think deserves it?

as I said, im not disagreeing per se as lots of fans seem to think punishing young players for lack of effort or weak areas of their game only hurts them going forward. but im just curious as to your thoughts.

for example, regardless if hes more talented, you don't think he deserved near the ice time that say Larsson did do you?

imo, the tough love Eakins showed yakupov has made him stronger defensively and more responsible forward (he was an absolute nightmare) which will make him a better nhl'er moving ahead

I totally respect your opinion, but I personally feel that 1st and 2nd round picks are chosen that high for a reason. I have been a huge supporter of Larsson and am happy to see him doing so well. But many people wrote him off early, and I feel the Sabres organization are some of those people. My point is, let your high picks play and if they suck fine, but give them an honest chance to prove themselves. The Sabres have not done that with Grigorenko. They have screwed him at every turn. I worry about how many prospects in our system will be not given a fair chance and be told ultimately to take a walk only to come back an bite us in the butt, Larsson was definitely about to become one of them up until about a week ago. Right now is the perfect time to let players like Grigorenko play but Nolan will not let that happen. Why? We should not give up on quality prospects before we truly know what we have in them.

I agree for the most part
Guys still have to earn their playing time though

But there's a disconnect IMO with the way Murray runs things
He's been on wgr saying that he picks the players & let's Nolan do what he wants with them
That doesn't make any sense to me
There should be some sort of collaboration. Nolan still should be allowed to do his job, but (for example) Murray should be able to go to Nolan & tell him we new to get Hacket into 7 games so we don't lose his rights
Or like u suggest, say we want to get a look at what Grigorenko, Larsson, etc can do

Nolan still should have final say in playing time, etc...
But there should be some sort of communication going on where everyone is working towards the same goal

That's the problem though, Nolan is not doing what's best for the team, and I say this being a fan of his. He's now playing his players in an effort to screw Murray because he knows he's done. Their is no collaboration anymore between them. Murray is all about the tank, Nolan is not. So, Nolan on his way out is doing everything he can do to screw Murray. Next season if Nolan is still here will be playing guys like Ellis and Dalpe more than Reinhart, Compher, fashing, Baptiste, Baliey, and Possler?

Do you really believe this?

God forbid Ted Nolan does his job and some of his fringe players that are fighting for their careers fight for their careers.

Some of you just have a very dim bulb apparently.

I've said this before. There's no doubt in my mind that Reinhart can be a #1 center in this league. The doubt lies in whether he can be a #1 center on a championship team in this league. This, of course, assumes he meets expectations. If the Sabres are to win a championship, he's going to need to exceed them. And banking on that usually isn't a recipe for success.

Also, I'm not so sure about Girgensons. There's no doubt in my mind he's going to have a lengthy career in this league, but I'm not sure how much better he's going to get offensively. I think he's pretty much peaked already. We also have yet to see him when teams actually start gameplanning for him, for which there hasn't been a reason to yet.

I see him as a Backstrom/Thornton type player.

20 goal 50 assist type player

not a bad thing, and if there was not these 2 great prospects in the 2015 draft, he would be our #1 center moving forward, not a bad thing if they end up with the 3rd or 4th overall pick

Having a guy like that as your #1 center makes you a good team. However, after the disaster that has been the last four years or so, anything less than a great team is unacceptable. I want no part of going forward with Reinhart and Girgensons as my #1 and #2. They can do better.

Would the Boston center model work of Reinhart, O'Reilly, and Girgensons?

It just might.

You don't think that after being the driving force of the top line for us most of this year teams didn't start gameplanning for him? He's been in the league for 2 years now. His rookie year wasn't anything overly impressive, but teams know what he's capable of.

I don't really think teams gameplan for anybody when they play the Sabres to be honest.

It may not be that he wants to screw Murray, but the two are clearly not working in a united fashion. Murray sends down Schaller (0g0a-4 and ~14:00 TOI last six games) and calls Grigo To see what he'll do, and Nolan gives him 8:00. Murray wants to see Grigo, Nolan doesn't. Murrays planning for the future, Nolans only trying to win each game.

(An ass like me says Murrays playing chess and Nolans playing checkers).

I agree with just about every word of that. However, to expect Nolan not to act in his own self-interest when he knows he's out the door just seems a little unfathomable. What I don't share is the idea that Nolan has the capability to make a difference. I still fully expect this team to end up in 30th when the regular season ends.

I'm serious, though. The biggest threat when you play Buffalo right now is sleep walking. They're incredibly difficult to take seriously.
