...yeah you lost me here. So it's OK to just hurl insults when someone has a different view. What are you (frank)ing 5 dude?

EDIT: Anyways I'm out. Have a rotten evening.

Don't worry he does this to everyone with differing views... Poor buggar has a superiority complex- you either follow his lead and rebuttle as fact or else The sad fact is the Oilers are a mess- so much so that there is no quick fix or answer but time...

Teams finishing:

17-20 get 1 ping pong ball
21-25 get 2
26-30 get 3

Or something to that effect. All teams that miss get a chance at the #1, but also the worse you get the chance does increase but not substantially enough that teams don't try to win at all costs.
And then of course the last 16 picks of the round are reverse order of playoff finish.

Know what a big problem is? NTC and NMC's. How is a team, that is trying to improve, supposed to bring in top players that say "No" to going to that market?
- ChetManly

you pay more. like how cgy had to pay more then usual for wideman

it sucks, but it gets the pieces in

basically what they did for the crosby post lock out draft.

"Teams were assigned 1 to 3 balls based on their playoff appearances and first overall draft picks from the past three year"

It would be good to get this rule in before the Leafs start finishing last.

fix the NHL:

close 2 teams, move 2 more, 1 to Seattle. Get rid of NMC's, drop goalie equipment sizes, all games are playoff rules, drop 10 games out of the season, Cup is won by Memorial Day.

I don't see a need to manipulate it.

I don't even think there should be a lottery. Let teams tank, who cares? Let teams get five first overall picks if they can, again, who cares?

I say draft teams in reverse order with no lottery and no rules against losing on purpose. It seems to make no difference. Let's instead worry about taking dangerous plays out of hockey, having longer suspensions and increasing scoring.

Just my two cents.

- James_Tanner

Totally Agree...reverse order works for the NFL, always has. NHL was as competitive when they had reverse order until NMC and NTC in contracts eliminated high profile player movement.

I hate to use a basketball team but, The Celtics never sign big time free agents because of the perception of the city being racist coupled with the fact it does not have the appeal of NY, LA or South beach. They've built winning teams through the draft and through trades. But it's also about identifying and acquiring supporting players too.

MACT aside, previous management has badly failed build around what is a talented core of players you have.

- glove_was_stuck

What about Garnett and Ray Allen? When did the Celtics draft them?

Eklund: Fixing the NHL: No Team Shall Be Allowed The 1st Pick Twice in Five Years
- Eklund

Eklund I wonder if we were talking about Philly instead of Edmonton, if your opinion would be the same. I'm not an Oiler fan but I can see the obvious bias applied to Canadian teams versus American teams. Your attitude seems to be tank on American teams and (frank) the Canadian teams.
