James,

I like your writing, but not your taste in music or politicians. Please leave your political opinions out of your blogs. I hope you can find a way to respect the wishes of those of us who read your stuff but get irritated at your shots at those people on the other side of the political spectrum from you.

I think both Bush and Harper were/are excellent leaders, even with their flaws. You disagree, and that's fine, but try leave your feelings out of it, and we who disagree will do the same thing in the future.

Thanks for your consideration of my request.

- jkumpire

I don't know were the idea came along that you can only read or talk to people who agree with you 100%. If you don't like some of my opinions, we can debate them or you can ignore them. But I am not going to write bland and generic pieces just to avoid annoying people who might disagree with me.

We are all grown-ups. We don't need to agree about some things to talk about others. I happen to be of the mind that cheering for a political party like its a sports team is ridiculous.

If the best candidate was Right Wing, I'd vote for him and vice-versa. I have no political leanings, I believe in peace, and justice and fairness and being a decent human being.

In my opinion, neither Bush nor Harper are decent human beings - they are bought and sold by oil companies and they have forgotten the face of their fathers.

But I could also say the same thing about Hilary Clinton.

I don't like them because they think violence is the answer to everything and it has nothing to do with what side of the aisle they vote on.

The worst team is measured over the course of an 82 game schedule, not in spurts of 25 to 30 games….the true dogs will stack up as they should at the end of the season.

The leafs traded Jokinen, Franson, Sanotrelli and Winnik all with in a month. Leafs tanking hard too.
- tomburton99

Winnik and Jokinen are fourth liners, Santorelli and Franson were pending UFAs.

Can't disagree with the Leafs assessment, especially after last night. Just goes to show how good of a coach Randy Carlyle is. He got that big steaming pile of crap to at least be respectable.
- duxcup07

That actually isn't true at all.

When the Leafs fired Randy, here's some facts:

-Close to the Top PP in the NHL.
-Close to the top PK in the NHL.
-No significant injuries.
-Winning while having one of the worst CF% in hockey.
- Hadn't blown a lead after two periods
- Extremely high team shooting percentage
- Bernier playing like a Hart Trophy Contender (seriously, look it up, he was unreal for about two months - nov and dec)

All that luck and the Leafs were only in 8th place (with 9th and 10th both having games in hand) when the Leafs fired Carlyle.

So, I think you can make a case that if Carlyle was a better coach, a team with that much good luck would be higher in the standings.

I still don't get what is pathetic about tanking. The players are still playing because they want successful careers. Sure, team management is getting rid of players in hopes of the Leafs doing poorly and getting a higher draft pick, but that is how the league works. The Leafs were doing very bad before they started dumping players.

You use the word blatant like they're trying to hide it. Shanny has been pretty public about the fact that they're getting rid of players and rebuilding through the draft. Are you upset that they didn't make it harder for you to figure out, or?

- SolidGoldBricks

I agree, it's within the rules. Technically, a high stick or an elbow is worse, since there are penalties attached for those plays. But no one says a guy is "cheating" if he attempts to make an illegal hit or whatever.

You believe in peace but say Bush is a better leader then Harper. Ya hes better at staging a war and killing thousand of innocent people to steal the oil from under there feet. Sounds like a winner to me what a joke.

What did I read the other day? Something like the team has lost 35 million this year and only has to lose another 15 million in the next 4 years to basicallly walk away from the lease w no strings attached?

Actually incorrect. The math says that 82 games isn't really a large enough sample size to completely account for luck. i.e see Colorado last year, Calgary this year etc.

BTW, the tanking by the three or four lowest teams in the league is disgusting, just like the 76ers are doing in the NBA.

As a CBJ fan I hate where we are in the standings, and I hate the fact we have a high draft pick coming our way. I'd rather see the CBJ win every game the rest of the season no matter if we only finished ninth and got a middle of the first round pick.

These are professional athletes playing 82 game seasons. They are paid to win games and people pay serious $$$ to see teams win and give 100% effort, not intentionally trying to lose, or see life-long AHL players put in to supposedly get the next great player.

How fans of any team can root for their team to lose is beyond me. Especially since lots of number 1 draft picks have failed to reach their potential for all kinds of reasons.

- jkumpire

You have no understanding of the misery that comes along with being a Leafs fan. The fact is, they can keep middling (not very fun to watch) forever, or suck for a couple of years and hope to be good after that (they won't be). I'd much rather the option where I can see the team I love succeeding than watch them somewhere between 17th and 25th the rest of my life.

I am openly rooting for the Coyotes and Leafs to lose all their games. Don't care if that's respectable or not. I want McDavid and I wouldn't even dress a goalie if I was in charge.

I dont think Mcdavid would help Arizona out like Crosby did with the pens with regards to a fan base I really dont see Arizona being sold out even if they won 3 cups in a row. So that being said I hope he lands on the Leafs.

You know what Taylor Swift had to say about teams that aren't in a good spot to land McDavid...

Sometimes it is. Do you think ISIS is just going to go away because we're nice to them? And let's not get started about Iran, who will have a nuclear weapon sooner than you think. THEN the fun will start. Also, military troop deaths are double in Afghanistan under President Obama than W. The press doesn't plaster it all over the front page so everyone thinks it's just hunky dory.
