I watch all Arizona games. They are beyond awful right now, intentionally. Nolan is gonna play Lindback every single game. With the way they're playing, they'll not only miss 30th, they'll miss it by 7 points. The coyotes will be lucky to win 2 more games this year.

So now the Sabres are getting 14 points in 12 games? Boy you're really inflating that number. In a couple more posts they will catch Toronto.

Meh, i find it hard to believe there is something written in his contract like that..

Difference here is that in most situations like this, a coach would be on the same page as management, and find ways to discreetly work together towards the organizational goal. Not nolan, he just rides the hot goalie, tells the media it was irbe who convinced him this afternoon, then lindtank(?) blows that up when he says how he knew he was starting after last nights game. As long as lindback doesnt get shelled or injured i would expect to see him to finish out the season.

If you want us to finish last and arent worried yet, i think you should reconsider just how badly you want 30th.

- ieetbred

I want 30th as bad as anyone in here.

43 year old, 35 year Sabres fan. Desperately want the Cup.

Not going to worry about something I have zero control over. Not worth it.

I knew it would be a rollercoaster, and it's proving itself to be.

Not going to worry myself sick over it. Not going to "blame" Murray. Not going to become a Leafs fan.

I'm taking the zen approach. It is what it is.

Strome, Hanifin, Marner. Whatever. All should be great players.

There are options (who we pick, trade down, trade someone) if we finish picking 3rd.

We still have the best pipeline in the league, 2 years running.

I thought hiring Nolan last year as a PR move/hire was a mistake when it happened just for this potential situation. That he would motivate players enough this year to screw us out of McDavid or Eichel. Why Pegula went along with this with LaFontaine is beyond me if this was the big prize. We knew we sucked last year and he wouldn't do much last year and still sucked this year but not as much and if Nolan was going to be able to do anything it was to motivate players to play above and beyond their abilities. It hasn't happened yet but Arizona scares me.

Fair enough.

I dont blame you for it, because it isnt life or death and as you said we have a very good prospect pool and will be making it better regardless of what happens this season.

I also wont blame people for being upset when an obvious goal isnt reached in large part due to someone who isnt going to be a part of the future, perhaps as soon as this season is over.

Im not losing sleep over this. I just want to see the absolute best scenario play out for the sabres and to me that is finishing 30th and not really caring if they win the lottery. We have witnessed a tire fire for close to 3 years now, i want it to pay off with the big ticket.

This is gold.

Murray is a huge failure? Unless you have your crystal ball out, you have zero clue on how all these kids we already have will pan out. None.

One player is not going to save the franchise.

- grand-magus

Thank you for this. Murray gave an insubordinate underling an ahl roster and 3 backup goalies. They have been thoroughly outplayed almost every game this season. If this whole thing goes tats up, i trust murray to actually fix it. its not darcy. If we get outtanked by an equally awful arizona team with a tougher schedule- so be it.

They've kept Pysyk in the minors and Girgensons got injured. I can understand being mad but not at Murray. He literally did everything within his power to make sure this team bottoms out without attracting enough interest that would warrant some form of disciplinary action by the nhl. I'm actually mildly impressed in that regard.

Not to mention the Sabres are losing to backup and even 3rd string goalies, sometimes getting loser points in a weaker conference than Arizona and are still 30th which is on the brink. The only thing he shouldn't have done is hire Teddy and sign him to that new contract, but I don't think he wanted to hire his guy for the last tank year so we were stuck with him. LaFontaine hiring Ted as the interim coach was the real mistake.

Seriously WTF is going on, I am sure this is Boston's way of saying "(frank) you Buffalo" here is 2 points for ya and they still got a point out of it.

I just hope we keep Irbe for when we are playing for real.

Some of these comments are amazing. More than halfway through the game last night, the Sabres had SIX shots on goal. At the end of the game they had only 20. The Bruins completely dominated every aspect of the game, except a guy who has played like a seive for most of his career - the guy some people said absolutely proved our evil tanking intent - had the best pro game of his life. And this aberration should lead to the firing of our general manager?

Take a few deep breaths, kids

(frank) that. This is about deliberately giving the fans the two worst seasons in hockey history. Being an absolute embarrassment. Trading away franchise players. This would be one of the worst ways to fail. We've settled for second best our whole lives, and now we might have to settle for third best. No one should be happy with that. If you are then your brain is mush. You're a mindless zombie. We should have kept Miller, Pomminville and Vanek and kept pushing for the final playoff spot. That would at least be respectable.

lol No.... I'll take risto, zads, kane, reihnhart, and whoever we draft this year any day of the week. We were not good with those guys. We were missing playoffs with those guys. I love the spot we are in when it comes to young talent. Regardless of us screwing this up we are going to be in a better place because of the rebuild.

That being said I will be very very disappointed with anything other than 1/2.

Anyone have a clue what time the draft is on the 12th? I'm leaving the country in the afternoon and I'm not going to find out for like 3 days.... if where I end up has internets...

Keep in mind this was something that Darcy started when he moved Pominville and Vanek.

What is going on right now has zero to do with the GM. He's given Nolan chicken sh!t to work with and he's somehow made chicken salad out of it.

Idk why we are giving Nolan credit and or blaming him... It seems like whatever goalie we play they end up playing at an elite level. It's not like the team is suddenly playing at a high level and beating teams
