It was nice to hear Teddy get some love last evening for what he is accomplishing with such a sad collection of players at the moment.

Not only from the guys in the booth/or studio but from Barry Trotz as well.
From fans of the game with no agenda and no swaying bias.

Teddy should be back next season and I know I certainly look forward to him getting a chance to coach a team with a few more NHL'ers on it, seeing that he is coaching an NHL team filled with primarily AHL'ers and keeping games close.

Closer than teams like Washington would like.

From a fan looking forward to next season with Teddy at the helm.
Go Sabres.

People don't realize how close the Sabres are to having this thing locked up. I think there is zero chance they get a point tonight playing at Boston on the back end of back-to-back games. Friday's game is huge. If they could somehow lose in regulation to the Devils, Saturday's game is another one they have virtually zero chance of even getting a point in Nashville.

Before their game on Monday, the Oilers will have played both Columbus and Philly at home, while Arizona has Colorado, Pittsburgh without Malkin and Hornqvist, and Vancouver at home. If both teams can just get 2 points out of those games Buffalo is down 7 points with 10 games to play.

According to several rumors and an average source of my own, I wouldn't hold your breath on this one.

I'm calm. I don't envision a scenario where this team makes up 6 points in 12 games. As well as they have played lately they still will have lost 8 straight when the Bruins beat them tonight.

Whether you believe that Ted has had a fair shake or not with this roster, it's totally justifiable to fire a coach that coaches a team to one of the worst records in history.

I'm looking forward to next season with a new coach that belongs in the NHL, new attitude, and an actual NHL team. Also it's nice swing Larson playing well. Hopefully he sticks on the third line next year. I think people were giving up on him way to quickly.

Better Sabre goalie ?

Ryan Vinz
Jaro Halak
Chad Johnson

- sbroads24

Not really answering your question, but I think Vinz should be the new Taro replacement for the "in the know" sort of Sabres fans in terms of customized sweaters.

If not Vinz, then Irbe, but I think Vinz is cooler.

Interesting Sabres Note of the day: The Sabres have won every Game Reinhart has scored in. Future is bright.

Some of us. I wasn't convinced. You see a kid like that playing in Rochester, steadily improving every year. I'm not throwing in the towel on Grigs either. I really hope he can develop more of a fire, but his entire game has been improving down there.

THey did have a bunch of positive things to say regarding the Sabres. One thing that stood out to me was during the Sabres time out they called. They commented on the team skating to the bench and standing around. "Most teams have the coach with a dry erase board going over a play and giving directions. Seems the team was already prepared for it and didn't need it."

He is such a good coach that he has plays imprinted in there brains before each game! Serious question... does he even own a dry erase board?

Was looking for the video clip of last nights time out. Found this tell tale stat regarding our PP.

The Sabres have 20 power-play goals on the season (in 184 attempts). Caps star Alex Ovechkin has 21 power-play goals on his own.

Why do u say that?
Murray has liked Bogosian for years (his words) and was finally able to trade for him. Wouldn't make much sense for him to turn around and deal a player he's coveted for years now. He also can also be a "top pair" guy.
Maybe we have different definitions of what that means though.
For me, it has nothing to do with offense. My criteria is...
1) plays against other teams top players effectively in a shut down type role
2) plays 25min a game
For me,
Bogosian, Ristolainen & Zadorov can all fit those standards, and I believe McCabe will eventually be able to as well.
Obv they all still have some developing to do though.

And if what 89 says is true (got no reason to doubt him), Murray likes Zadorov & he isn't going anywhere

- jdfitz77

Because Ristolainen has a ceiling higher than any other defensemen on this roster by a long shot.

Zadorov is raw, Bogosian is average.

If they could land a young top 6 player for Bogosian, you wouldn't take it and replace him with someone like Franson/Green/ Sekera ?

It was odd watching it. usually it is pretty frantic during the time out. but to see everyone just hanging around. Ted didn't say a word.

And as a disclaimer this isn't me knocking Bogosian or saying I want them to trade him. I just don't think he should be untouchable with how highly Murray thinks of Pysyk/McCabe

Ignoring all outlying factors like how Murray targeted Bogosian and that he's playing extremely well for us...

I would trade him for a Chara ten years ago, Weber, Karlsson, 2008 Mike Green, or any other real top 2 guy or prospect in the mold of them. What I'm saying is, it's not worth it to trade Bogo unless it's a sure thing you're getting back something even better.

Some humorous select Leafs fans proposals.

So GM Murray (Buffalo) claims he's will to move their 1st round pick (from St.Louis in the Ryan Miller trade)...

Bernier for a likely bottom 5- 1st?
Gardner?
Kadri?

- dwoo33

bernier or gardiner sure.
kadri has to fetch more...he was a #7

- mr.sir

Frank I hate Gardiner. Is it just me or has he actually gotten worse this year?
- Hockey_Reverend

Also saw a nice package starting with JVR for Eichel.

I was actually wondering if they've ever put a proposal together that didn't have the names Kadri, Bernier or Gardiner attached to them. I would assume a grand total of two, and it was for the top pick. Kessel and a 2nd for 1st overall, or JVR for Eichel.

A top 6 forward would be better for us than Bogo IMO.

Again though, I'm not looking to outright trade him just to trade him. IMO the only one that should be off the table is Risto though.

Top 6 forwards are a dime a dozen. Top 3 and I would consider it.

The Leafs want to move Kessel so bad, i'll give them the other 1st we got and Hodgson for Kessel. Screw the Leafs.

He would never net one.

I have little doubt he will be here long term though.
