That town won a Calder Cup a few years ago (Tim Murray was the GM) and you'd be hard pressed to find a person there who realizes they actually have a team at all.

I've lived there. Morale plays a big factor. You never see that bright thing up in the sky, and it always rains.

But we will see how he does going forward. They make the playoffs they might have a Cam Ward type of run from him, Ottawa could be dangerous if they make it. But its hard to judge a goalie after 10 games.

"Here’s a believe-it-or-not stat from a season full of them: The Buffalo Sabres have scored the first goal in nine of their last 10 games."

They need to cut that poop out....

- jochfr

Seems to be the only goal they get. They fall apart in the 2nd . Been that way for years , They try and come back the last 5min of the game.

To my potential detriment, I believe in Neuvirth going forward and he is the one I would be looking at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for goaltending in the offseason.
- kingcong39

Agreed. I would prefer they go after Neuvirth and if Minny doesn't re-sign Dubnyk, sign him. Let those two battle for the #1 job. My back up plan would be to sign Ramo if Calgary doesn't.

Larsson is a prime example of what can happen when you give prospects a fair shot at proving themselves, not just regulating them to the 4th line with minimal minutes. Now if they would only let Grigorenko play 2C with decent wingers and a little more T.O.I. than two shifts, we might actually see this kid turn the corner or at least increase his value this office season. The nice goal he had last night should prove that there is something there with him.
- sskkoo1

idk, skoobee...Larsson and Grigorenko are a bit different...Grigorenko had opportunities stay in the top-six, but he let it slip away...and he's done that under three coaches thus far

Bingo was really good a few years ago and I know they have had an up and down season but I'm not too sold on this kid after just a handful of games. The Sabres could look elsewhere in a trade for a young goalie. Heck, they might consider moving Lehner and Murray did draft him so ya never know.
- mhp

Yeah. I'd rather just give Makarov a chance as the back-up and sign Neuvirth, etc... To start.

He has the skill but not the chase the puck syndrome. Not aggressive enough for what this team needs . Seems the way the NHL has adapted too. Players like him are noticed more for their lack of energy than their skill.

and that's what every coach (I believe) has said about him...lack of compete...

Larsson's an annoying s.o.b. when he's on his game...relentless on the puck and the player...just ask phaneuf

It's been noted that the way he skates makes him look lazy but he's not. I also disagree with you saying Grigs has had opportunities to stay in the top 6. Not any decent/fair opportunities at least.

Grigorenko has had call ups with 3 different coaches but other than the start of the 2012-13 season right after just being drafted when has he been given a fair shot? Every time they call the kid up its for 4th line duty with wingers like Kaleta and Konopka and very limited minutes. This kid needs top 6 time with decent wingers and he hasn't been provided that since he was first draft here when he clearly just wasn't ready yet, but darcy need someone to save his job. My only real point is-there are 15 games left in the season, what would it hurt to let him play 5 consecutive games as the #2 center. Then he might be able to get a little comfortable being up here and start to do something special offensively. It just seems like the Sabres have taken this attitude with him that if he doesn't score a natural hat trick in the first 8 minutes of the game, its off to the press box you go.

I know you like him.

What do you do with him next season?

Get the next deal finalized and play him as one of your top three centers all season next year, through good and bad?

Use him as part of a trade?

He was an enigma on trade day and he remains just that today.

Play him as a top6 winger most likely. McEichel/Reinhart will probs make up at least your 2C, leave Girgs as 1C if you don't want them on the first line yet. Play Grigs with Ennis and one of Reinhart/McEichel on line 2?

Or have something like

Ennis - Girgs - Grigs
Kane - McEichel - Reinhart

until the top picks get adjusted?

The area we were trying to work hard with Grigo was the compete level,” [Remparts head coach Patrick] Roy said. “In my opinion, he was losing too many battles. At times, Grigo thought he was working hard. But when you’re watching the clips he was not. Obviously, we were trying to break that down. But that’s all I can say.”

he's been a passenger too often...that being said, why not give the kid an extended opportunity with foligno and Gionta on the second line?...what can it hurt?

Either the kid is going to get it or he's not. It's up to Murray to identify that as quickly as possible and if it's "not", to trade him asap. There's always some GM out there who thinks he can resurrect a player.

Maybe AGM Darcy?

it hasn't clicked yet for him...Larsson's a good parallel in that respect...he's been bounced around all season riding emotional highs and lows...he finally seems to have gotten "it"

Larsson isn't nearly as talented as Grigo, though, and that's what will drive people nuts about Grigo.

We say it all the time about players - and I'm by no means burying Grigo yet - that if some only had the will to match the talent, they'd be all-stars.

I call it "million dollar skill, ten cent heart" syndrome.

Larsson, at least, works his tail off.

An entire game on a line with Ennis against a sh!tty toronto team?

**
Something Grigs hasn't had (except for that one time I think he was playing a game with Girgs and maybe Ennis last year. Got a point or two then back to 3rd line)
