Good not just me, anything less than pick 2 in this draft is a FAILURE of epic proportions and Buffalo would probably get savaged in the media for NOT even being able to finish dead last to guarantee pick 2.

I do agree with the saviour comment though, no such thing, takes a lot of pieces, also a VERY good coach.

how ironic...sabres lambasted for tanking, but if they don't finish last, it's a failure...

can't win (or lose? )

They need either McDavid or Eichel IMO, we still don't have enough without them.

What a dumb tweet by Carucci. I cannot stand the media with this mcdavid stuff. Acting as if we already have him. What an embarrassment

I also want to punch whoever got a sabres mcdavid jersey made directly in the throat. I cant wait until all the articles come out talking about how the sabres blew it and did'nt draft mcdavid. There is going to be a picture of one of those a$$hats as the cover photo

it was a retweet...for the record, i'm a big fan of carucci's

we have more than a lot of teams in their situation have had...haven't done the research, but methinks Chicago had less...the kings too

When they drafted Kane, they had drafted 3rd the year before (Toews) and had already drafted Keith and Seabrook if I'm remembering correctly. Since those seem to be their key guys, Kane ended up the "final" piece, if you want to look at it that way. They also had already drafted Hjalmarsson, Byfuglien, Bolland, Bickell, and Brouwer. All of whom have been pretty key in their success over the years.

They've done a good job of filling out the rest of their roster though over the years, even when they ended up in salary cap hell after their 1st Cup. Obviously many of those guys have been moved around and replaced with guys like Oduya, Shaw, etc but you get the point.

I vaguely remember Ted Black saying it's two days after this year when he was on with Jeremy White.

My question is what do they do if they don't finish last and end up with the 3rd pick in the draft? We need a # 1 center. Or can a stronger Reinhart do that job? Do we skip Hanifan and go for Strome or Marner?

I don't like to think about this possibility but the race to futility is too close for comfort and all anyone wants to talk about is which one of the generational talents are we going to get...we forget there are two other teams, one mainly in Edmonton, that are sucking for last as well...and Edmonton has more experience at it too...

Good article. I went off in the comments section of the Buffalo News article Sucky wrote about how "One player isn't going to make a difference" only to find all the comments deleted the next day!

It's embarrassing to Buffalo to have a "journalist" act like he's so stupid he doesn't even understand hockey is a team sport for the sake of content.

I cant argue with any of the writers reasoning. That's pretty much why the Sabres Signed him. If you're "team tough" you don't need a guy like him. If you aren't, you do.
I really think the NHL could clean a lot of garbage up by having some semblance of integrity with suspensions and treating all offenses the same, regardless of the name plate on the back of the offending sweater.

The reasoning sucks.

If you're not "team tough", you go out and change roster makeup. You don't sign a liability that can't skate and expect him to solve your problems. That's what teams that have no clue how to win do.

So, you just swap out your wussy team for an entire "tough team"
now THATS sound reasoning.
Why haven't the Sabres swapped out their suck team for a cup team?

The real question is, who do they choose if they pick 3rd?

Do they pick Hanifin and deal big Z+ for some offensive help?

Do they go Strome?
