For next year, let’s assume things work out and they get O’Reilly (for what, I have no idea other than their remaining late 1st round pick).

Is it a foregone conclusion that Reinhart plays in the NHL next year or could he start in the AHL?

Let’s say only one of the two future hopes at Center are with the team next year.

That puts the lineup at something like this?

Kane – O’Reilly/Girgensons – Girgensons/O’Reilly
Moulson – McDavid/Eichel/Reinhart – Ennis
Foligno – Larsson – Hodgson
Deslauriers – McCormick/Schaller – Varone

Kane, ROR, Girgensons are a big boy line. Mean, fast, can score, and it could give Girgensons the chance to play RW as that may be his optimal position going forward.

Moulson and Ennis give the young center two players able of finishing and someone in Ennis who can create himself.

Both Larsson and Foligno can play heavy enough hockey and cover defensively when needed for Hodgson.

The 4th line is one that could be effective if given more than 6 to 8 minutes a night.

While the lineup above isn’t great, it’s not bad either. Upgrade with at least one quality D FA and the team will be much improved, assuming they sign a decent G.

If Girgensons is on line one next year, we'll be in for trouble. Talented kid, but doesn't have the skill set to anchor the top line.

The Bills are expected to have an offer for free agent Charles Clay on Friday or Saturday.

Buffalo has been infatuated with Clay since the start of free agency and at this point, we'd be shocked if the two sides didn't put pen to paper. The Bills cut Scott Chandler earlier this week to make room for Clay. Cleveland still has interest, but Buffalo is the clear front runner. The Dolphins signed Jordan Cameron on Thursday, but appear to be somewhat interested in keeping Clay.

He's not anchoring the top line, in my scenario.

He's playing wing to two veterans in Kane and O'Reilly.

Yes, they would get all the tougher assignments, but that line could handle it and then some, IMO.

I think it's all going to depend on what they see out of him in development camp and the early stages of training camp. Until then, it's going to be really hard to predict.

Good post. In my view I think Reinhart starts in Rochester. He needs to bulk up over the summer so for now I would take him out of this equation.

My top 6 for next year

Kane-O'Reilly-Ennis
Moulson-McDavid-Girgensons

That's assuming we get ROR and based on Beezer's post yesterday (still trying to wrap my head around the things he said btw lol). I would still think we trade/fa for a RW and that could get Girgs to the 3rd line, where he is better suited imo.

I think it's an assumption that both Reinhart and the top pick will be here next year.

I think only one of the two will be here, at least to start.

So 89 you are saying his entire post was accurate or just some pieces of it, like the Myers and O'Reilly part? How does he get the opportunity to talk to Murray for 2 hours? That is strange, and then post it here?

To me, what they do with Hodgson is everything regarding trading for another winger outside of O'Reilly.

I think you can mix and match the top 6 any way you like. I only put Girgensons with Kane and O'Reilly because it seemed like a better fit than Ennis.

Then it's completely bizarre to me why someone would jeopardize their connection to GMTM by spilling his mildly inflammatory opinions to a random rumor blog. Unless GMTM wants him to. As I posted earlier back in the thread, what's the benefit to providing so much insider detail and risk losing that connection?

Even if it was all BS, which I don't believe to be the case, in this second consecutive season of garbage on ice, it's nice to have at least some entertaining reading.
