The more troubling thing is that their top offensive young players are regressing or not developing as well as hoped. Thats a serious issue. I am willing to chalk this season to a loss to be honest... to many people are too inconsistent.. Even the guys who are usually dominant.

I think it is a trickle down effect..

You have Giroux and Voracek as legit offensive players.
You then have Simmonds at the next level.

After that you do not have a single legitimate offensive threat on this team right now. Because those 3 players are human and prone to slumps you need someone else to offset them and the Flyers just dont have it.

I would do that deal straight up in a heart beat.....Phenuef is a #2....and Macdonald is an average guy on a big contract.....I accept the extra 2 mil a year and do the deal.

If that is the deal I do it as well, Phaneuf over AMac is a no brainer even with the extra 2 million. Problem is the Leafs think they can get and want a good return for Phaneuf and AMac doesn't really fit that mold to well. The Leafs are definitely going to want one of the Flyers 1st rounders and if I'm Hextall I don't part with any of those for Phaneuf.

That is what I have been trying to say...

The offense is a bigger concern right now then the defense just because we have multiple defensive prospects on the way but nothing on offense.

That needs to be a priority .

Laughton, Cousins, Aube-Kubel, Straka, Lindholm. As a pure offensive threat I'd have to say that Aube-Kubel is your best bet to turn out to be a very good offensive player. I think Laughton is going to be better offensively then most expect but he isn't going to be setting the world on fire with his production, going to be a solid 2 way center though.

Speaking of: Who's been to the Flyers Wives Carnival? Should I have consulted the forum in forewarning? I went for the first time this year and I've never felt like a bigger chump in my life. What a disingenuous, corporatized circus. I'm surprised they didn't have Frank Bialowas running a three card monte booth - that at least would've felt authentic.

Coupled with the minutes and hours spun down the drain over the past several months spectating these idiots makes me feel double chumped.
