Cam Ward is playing for the Canes. Oilers played Bachman. Tank move, bro.
- Pierceme69

100% a tank move. One of the most winnable games on the schedule and they start the young inexperienced backup? Time for us to sit ennis and moulson

Pathetic. Giving up a 3 goal lead??? Wow... I love how the sabres are the talk of the league with tanking and yet the Oilers have been doing it "and failing at it" for 5+ years.
- Smittyx36

Why does it bother ppl so much that some in the media are criticizing the Sabres?

Not only did they give it up, they gave it up in 6 minutes.

because we will always be tied in with it if we get mceichel. Its overlooked with pitts and chicago. It wont be with us unfortunately

They are changing the draft lottery because of us pretty much...

At least the Oiler are showing some compete, not like the Sabers deliberately tanking.
- hunter3333

You mean like the 6 straight goals they let in against Carolina, a team that's also tanking? Yeah, they look pro.

Not entirely, wasn't long ago that TSN did a special on the year the pens tanked for mario.

But Fitz is right, who cares if it's tied with us. As long as it's tied with a few cups i think we'll all be okay with it.

Don't lose too much sleep over it. This is the first year it seems to be the common theme amongst the so called tanking teams. We were set up for it last year. Others have failed to make a chance for the playoffs and have decided they would take the chance at a great pick. Sucks we have to be part of it. Complaining fans are just jelly that they won't be in the 1 or 2 spot at the end of the season.

lol you're joking right? They played a backup against a team in a game that was very winnable. The Sabres would still be playing Neuvy if he was here.

So we came out of the weekend losing a small amount of ground on both Edmonton and Arizona. It could have been so much better, but at least the Sabres didn't steal any points.

I never thought I'd accuse a team who decided not to start Ben Scrivens of tanking.

I don't know that I like Lindback getting all this time in the net. He doesn't look great, but he's made some pretty good saves and is starting to look a little more comfortable back there.

That ottawa game makes that neuvirth trade look huge. We probably win that game in regulation if he's in net..

I think its a given that Hackett has to play 6 more games to get the RFA tag, so that gives Lindback roughly 10 more starts. As long as he plays against the clubs that are fighting for positioning, I think his swiss chessyness will come through

I'm not too worried about it
The only teams I think we can be reasonably competitive against are Arizona & Toronto
We'll still lose the games against the Leafs BC their goaltending is far superior
I think we will get a surprise win here & there, but I doubt any of the goalies we have left will be good enough to steal more than 1 or 2 more games...

We're in good shape for 30th place IMO

I don't know that you can assume they'll give Hackett 6 more games. I don't think they're afraid of retaining his RFA status. It's not exactly like he's a hot commodity and I don't know that they plan on him being with the club beyond this year anyway. Ullmark will be coming over from Sweden next year and they still have Makarov for in Rochester. Johnson is under contract for 1 more year. I bet they target a guy in FA to be the starter. So where exactly does Hackett fit?

Teams will see that he fumbles everything he touches.

Net front presence ahead of time, or crash the net at time of shot, and lots of second chance goals to be had.

My worry is that Buffalo has a tendency to get good goaltending even when you're not expecting them to have it.

"The Bills have expressed interest in signing former New York Jets running back Bilal Powell, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano. The New York Daily News reported Sunday that the Jets believe Powell is leaning toward joining the Bills. "
