I'll concede this to a degree. I just don't want Gionta or Gorges to be those guys. Maybe we'll find other guys as vet leaders but for the moment, we'll stuck with them. I think Girgensons will provide great leadership though.

In time, for sure. But always good to have older guys to even show the future leaders how to lead. Like in Pittsburgh when they were young, Crosby wearing the "C", but Roberts, Guerin and Gonchar were the guys providing the leadership. I dont follow the Sabres closely, so you may be right about Gorges/ Gionta.. of course you don't want your vets to have poor attitudes, whiners, complaining, or out partying on game nights or filling their noses with blow. Perfect leader is a guy like Pascal Dupuis (sorry for another Pens reference), class act, family man, works hard on and off the ice, you can tell he still has fun with the boys, but knows when and where to draw the line. Those in my opininon are the guys you want Reinhart, McDavid and the rest of your talented prospects to model themselves after.

It's weird that the Bills are so relevant

I don't see Gionta and Gorges as part of the future core. To me, this core is looking like Girgensons, McDavid, Reinhart, Risto, Kane and Pysyk. The only piece missing here in the core is the goaltender.

While Gionta and Georges probably wont be renewed, girgensons, Kane and Bogo will be older when they leave. Hopefully taking over. I think Murray contracted those 3 vets perfectly based on age and ability....or potential ability with decent linemates.
