I'm just tired of efforts to evaluate a trade at a time when only one side has the primary piece active.

Of course Myers is outperformimg Kane now. I haven't paid any attention to Stafford since he left, but I'm happier with Bogosuan on the team than I was with Staff.

I'm genuinely happy to see that Myers is playing well in a new system, for two reasons: first, I always liked him and want to see him do well; second, more importantly, it shows our young talent can prosper when the deadweight of our current coaching staff are Removed.

Why are people so obsessed with "winning" a trade? When you break up with a girl do you get upset when she hits the gym the next day? It didn't workout so you move on. I was a big fan of Myers but it was time for both sides to move on.

It is this kind of fear that prevented Darcy from making trades. What happens if the departed players have success? Who freaking cares? I hope they all do well. We got two players that we really wanted - enough said.

BAM! As Hannah Montana would say!

This is written by an "adult" as HH would prefer and it is a mature and open minded way of looking at this transaction. Anyone obsessed with "winning" or "Losing" a trade need not discuss the values of said trade due to the fact we received two NHL proven commodities HIGH 1st Round(3rd & 4th Overall) I believe, for 1 NHL proven (11th overall) , I'm not including Stafford, he is a UFA and is helping PEG now, but will go to the highest bidder in 16 games left. The others, including the goalie are UNPROVEN NHL TALENT. TMGM has a list of players he has designated (age, talent, style) and when and if they become available he is willing to give to get! He has a vision, Darcy had wet dreams and never explained his vision or his method of building a team. TM is far more transparent than Darcy, I dare HH to even try to debate it.

I was one of them...if they'd have stuck to the tank his first year, made the deals to get Pommer and Vanek out, kept Grigo up the whole year and had him in this year maybe the lad's confidence would be supreme by now. Sure he'd still be on a historically bad team but he'd have a much bigger body of NHL work under his belt to evaluate.
He might have been on the Tim Connely path, which is to say in the big leagues and no looking back, (hopefully) minus the injuries.

Now all we have is a handful of games as a result of many call-ups and no real picture of his abilities against NHL competition as he heads into RFA land.

Their games are entertaining. They shouldn't be this bad.

I hate changing my clock. I was out late and lost and hour. I ended up not getting out of bed until 11. Now I'm gonna have a hell of a time falling asleep at a decent time tonight

I was glad they squeaked out a point against Chicago the other night. I look at that as a bonus. Figured looking at the schedule it would be a loss.

Unfortunately, I think everyone else they have is hurt and Scrivens needs to get a game off here or there.

On an alternate topic, what is the consensus about Nolan, not sure I want Nolan anywhere near talented players like Eichel or McDavid, maybe Reinhart as well. I honestly don't know who would be better, Nolan scares me a little.
- MikeyOz

My two cents.
I am a strong believer that Nolan should be gone for several reasons discussed before.
However, in the context of your question, he does seem to do well with young players initially.

Couple thoughts:

Nolan - liked him during his first stint here. Didn't disagree with bringing him in here last year after the major shake up. But it's now time to move forward with a new coaching staff to go along with this new core coming in now and the next few upcoming months.

Evander Kane/Myers Trade - let things play out for a year or two? Period

Draft/Tank - wasn't on board in the fall, just not my nature! Now it's crazy not to be 100% in tank mode for either future star. It makes things interesting to watch the Oilers/Coyotes the next month.

Bills QB - hope Cassell is just a backup? My belief is that EJ might be gone and Whaley & Co. still looking at options? We shall see?

Bills TE - looks like they are inteested in Clay from Miami? Do we look to draft, or maybe Cameron from Cleveland?

McCoy for Alonzo - at first, was a tough call for me (I love Tiko). But Shady can do it all - run between tackles, catch the ball out of the backfield and hit that hole quickly. He opens things up in the passing game for Watkins! (See need QB).

Just some Sunday thoughts (Larry Felser)
