Etem is out there playing and may I say: Beau looks better.

Somebody posted earlier they would've be happy with a Despres for Etem trade. Etem has showed speed but no hands at all....Rico Fata ?

I thought the right deal would be Despres+5th for Lovejoy+Etem.

It was me. Just as a matter of moving position of strength (D - Despres) for a position of weakness ( F - Etem). Neither is a finished product, but at least both are younger players, RFAs, and potential to improve. Just saying I would have understood that kind of move a lot more.

I see it differently. Unless Lovejoy is a 3/4 Dman and Despres is 5/6 Dman for the next two years, it's a fail. A swap of 5/6 Dman is a 'Lose' for the Pens due to Despres being younger, cheaper, and a RFA after his current deals ends.

Unfortunately, I think the reverse will happen. Despres will rise to a 3/4 while Lovejoy will be nothing more than a 5/6.

I do understand and agree with GMJR thinking Lovejoy will be less mistake prone. It was a win now move. I honestly don't think they're looking beyond this year. I think we both agree it's a fail already.

I am in agreement with you. The kid will be a good pro. Wouldn't hurt our lineup at all. Could have afforded to make Cole the only defensive acquisition. Etem is pushed out of their lineup a bit because they're so deep at forward. Sekac didn't help that. So yeah...I like that idea.

I think Despres is showing exactly why the Pens moved him. Pretty steady, then complete dumbass.

Letang - Martin
Lovejoy - Ehrhoff
Cole - Pouliot

Those should be the D lines when everyone's healthy

I know it's just one period and I know I've said this a few times already, but why couldn't the Penguins management just have scratched Scuderi and kept Despres w/ Pouliot or Cole? Despres looks great w/ Fowler and Scuderi continues to be totally inept at clearing the zone except Cole can't cover for him they was Despres did.

I am just going to almost irrationally hate this trade for years to come.

Despres is really trying to make me look like a moron tonight...

It's a stretch to put all The blame in Despres. Whatever makes you sleep better at night.

Good things happen when you shoot the puck.

You're right, the stupid penalty that led to the 3rd goal was Scuderi's fault.

I didn't like the Despres trade but I think it's fair to say that Lovejoy has played pretty well so far. Maybe that trade hurts the Pens in 4 years but this year and next it will make them a better team.
