I don't mind the advance stats, I just don't like how every blog for everyday for the last 3 months analyzing players based on these advanced stats. Ryan has a great hockey mind and Id love a nice little game day blog or a game recap on how he thought the game went. I don't mind reading advanced stats on the players in the previous game. It's the 30 blogs of advanced stats on sutter that he's not a good 3rd line center that get boring

Exactly how I feel, the bottom/trade speculation was wearing on everyone. Wilson talked about the bottom six a lot and we all kept talking about the same trades over and over. I hope to get back to more previews/reviews and looks ahead. A lot he could write about with the playoffs and so many different teams we could play.

@stackthepads I've never gotten that sense because he's said the opposite so many times in depth and reminds everyone so often then you need to take everything available to you to make good decisions trades and an awesome team top to bottom. It's been a bit too much lately but large swaths of any fan base hate to hear any criticism of their own team especially their meat and potatoes role players.

Downie would have been in the box twice now haha...

There was two times where a pens could have landed a duck on an open ice hit... legally... but noone does that anymore... bc most guys would get called for a penalty...it's a shame. . Good hits have gone away where illegal poop still happens

Yeah, he is not inspiring too much confidence so far.

Despres definitely making Crosby a target tonight.

I know it's just one period and I know I've said this a few times already, but why couldn't the Penguins management just have scratched Scuderi and kept Despres w/ Pouliot or Cole? Despres looks great w/ Fowler and Scuderi continues to be totally inept at clearing the zone except Cole can't cover for him they was Despres did.

I am just going to almost irrationally hate this trade for years to come.

But Scuderi brings experience...

I'm already missing Despres.

I hope we irrationally hate this deal rather than rationally hating this deal.....if you know what I mean. It's going to take at least a couple more years to find out.

I don't think its going to take a couple years....I think we will know by the end of the playoffs...again, I am curious if Scuds looks really bad with Cole/Lovejoy, will they have enough balls to sit him.

No, it will take the rest of this year and next year. If Lovejoy doesn't significantly outplay Despres, the Pens traded a 23 yr old, big RFA for a more expensive 31yr old who will hit UFA. If they are equal, it's a massive fail for the Pens.

Did Crosby's line lose all the chemistry? Perron has been pretty quiet.

Well, I'm already confident Lovejoy won't significantly outplay Despres. I think he'll be less mistake prone.

I guess my point should have been if Despres blossoms into a 3 or 4.....or God forbid a 2 we'll be talking about this deal as one of the worst all time. Kid is only 23, it will be years before we know his ceiling.

I see it differently. Unless Lovejoy is a 3/4 Dman and Despres is 5/6 Dman for the next two years, it's a fail. A swap of 5/6 Dman is a 'Lose' for the Pens due to Despres being younger, cheaper, and a RFA after his current deals ends.

Unfortunately, I think the reverse will happen. Despres will rise to a 3/4 while Lovejoy will be nothing more than a 5/6.
