Not bashing him at all. Just stating his style of presentation vs the fan base's style of acceptance. I am very appreciative of his work and daily blog.

Like here everyone is, talking about the game tonight. No is talking about advanced stats.

Beau Bennett is outperforming his role significantly.

We must be watching a different Beau Bennett, because the one that is on the pens rosters sucks. The dude has had like 2 or 3 decent games this year.

I'm not bashing him, I went back and edited to say I do enjoy the corsi etc in the blogs, but it's literally the only thing in the blogs for months. It's been masked with trade options, but now that that is gone, he will have to move away from the bottom 6 bashing at some point. Daily blogs bashing the bottom 6 with the same advancesd stat numbers and advances stat numbers from the night before gets old quick. We all know our bottom 6 is anchored by Sutter and that Lap hasn't been much of a factor besides some hits in limited numbers in his tenure here. I think in 2 weeks our team will be in a much better place once the new guys get fully acquainted.

I hear ya. Send RW a private message on behalf of our board asking for more "game day news". I have a feeling he doesn't read every blog and sometimes might miss on some complaints.

Agreed on that. I don't think he'll fight anyone tonight at all. Despres will try his hardest tonight playing wise as a statement kind of game. Did anyone see Bortz last night? The play was over and he went out of his way to cross check a Flyer and layed him out, no penalty. He's still got Penguins blood
- znagle

lol I missed this crosscheck by Bortz. Nicely done.

I doubt Lapierre would fight Despres. Both are frenchies and probably buddies (alongside Letang, Fleury and Perron).

You have to appreciate anyone's blog, but I would suggest many cities in the league would love to have the Penguin's roster. They bring some of the most exciting brand of hockey most games. Ryan's blog, as a I take it, is from a person who is very tough to please. The people in Pittsburgh have been spoiled with the likes of Lemieux, Jagr, now Crosby & Malkin. With today's cap world, and having 2 of the highest paid players in the league, it restricts the bottom six quality of players. With that being said, more money, would have been able to keep Jordan Staal. He makes twice the coin Sutter does, so crapping on Sutter's door step doesn't fix anything. Sutter is a very good player for the money he makes. For some reason, Ryan, you would like to run him out of town. We all get it, you don't like Sutter, but the fact is, you aren't the guy pulling the strings. The GM, and coach do, they like him, end of story. Get over it, move on, accept the fact, your team has higher end top six guys, result, the lower six will suffer. Pittsburgh is a very good hockey club. A contender every year, and with the Cap World, any team can beat any team any given night. "Bettman Hockey", a better option than the old days, where the rich teams always won, well, not always. lol I would suggest it is time for Pittsburgh to think about rolling over some of it's star players, and try to get a high pick again, maybe Crosby or Malkin for the # 1 over all pick this year. save 7 or 8 million a year.

Take Scuderi and we have a deal

If we take Scuderi that Barasso autographed 5x7 would have to become an 8x10.

I find it odd that you, a guy who was calling for Rinaldo to be crucified for a dirty hit, is laughing about a former Penguins laying a dirty hit on a player and likening him to still being a Penguin.

Yeah I turned it on late and that was one of the first things I saw didn't watch too much else of the game though so I'm not sure how he looked.

Only way I see Despres fighting is if he takes a run and we start going after him after the whistle. I think he'll feel like he needs to prove something to us.

He is not our player, I just found it funny how he did that first game to a Flyer after all these years. It was a dirty hit and a missed call no doubt. Wasn't a head shot or anything though and there was no injury.

• The Penguins felt comfortable moving Simon Despres for reasons they’d feel very much uncomfortable acknowledging publicly. And not without cause.

Here’s the unvarnished truth, based largely on information offered all too freely after the trade this week: They don’t trust Despres off the ice and, hence, lost trust on it.

His size and skill were obvious, and they’ll continue to be that in Anaheim. They very much saw what you saw on occasion. But seeing positive traits on occasion is one thing, and seeing them consistently another. And when that inconsistency is something they believe is rooted in a general lack of applying one’s self in life, that’s when it becomes too much to take..

And no, I will not get specific on this. Sorry. Other than to say the Penguins got sick and tired of betting on his future.

Suffice it to say that Mike Johnston and Gary Agnew entered this season with Despres completely cleaning his slate. Both men told me as much in a face-to-face meeting we had last August. I brought up Despres and, unlike with every other player, they quickly changed the subject. They had, for whatever reason, no wish to engage in the topic at all. When I later asked why, Johnston explained that they felt it was important, given what they’d already known, to move on and give the kid a fair chance.

Nice piece. I'd rather still have him on our roster though.

Pity... but kind of confirms what some were saying about the reason for dealing him... inconsistent and his off of the ice stuff that Dan and Co had mentioned. Didn't want it to be true, I liked his potential too... but if its a risk vs reward on a team thats swung and missed on a handful of risks during Shero's time, I guess they had no choice.
