I have an idea. It's about NHL enforcers.

Sid needs to shoot the puck at the net. Sid needs to average six to eight shots per game. That's 2-3 shots per period. Not too much to ask I think.

The Penguins should carry and NHL enforcer on the squad. Raitis Ivanans or someone like that. Raitis was once legitimately 263 pounds.

The enforcer would be there to make sure Sid shoots the puck. If Sid doesn't shoot the puck, the enforcer will beat the buhjeeziss out of the good captain in the runway to the locker room. Put him in an arm bar, whatever. Keep the black eye up like a true friend.

I was looking at Ovie highlights this season. It's not good. He could probably still have a monster 70 goal year. He can also run any player in this league. He's huge. On many occasions, players who go at Ovie to defend their battered teammate stop short of doing much once they get up close.

He ran Doughty a few times in LA, it was shocking. I hate his BS burning stick stuff and his dangling laces on his hockey pants but no man that big should be that fast. I would love just once to know what it feels like to crush a one-timer with that much authority into the net. Beating a beer league goalie near shelf with a wrister from the bottom of the circle is about all I have.

Sutter is the only bottom six guy producing any offense, so let's drop him down a line.

Sterling logic.

Lapierre is averaging 3 hits per game, you may not notice because he hasn't taken anyone's head off but the Pens need him doing that otherwise who will? From what I read - didn't see or hear the game, the Pens were very flat & not motivated - the Avs were. The Avs wanted to & need to win the Pens didn't. We can blame who we want to but at the end of the game advanced stats can float in the wind as it's who scored the most goals wins!!! Players are paid to do things - scoring is 1 of the highest paid skills, the Avs scorers scored & earned their money.

So now we (in my opinion) watch a more motivated Pens team playing the best team in the league, then the defending champs.

You sir are a moron
- dbell646

Fleury is the team MVP. Letang will win the Norris. I think everyone can generally get on board with that.

I suppose the notion that Malkin has had a better NHL career is too much to handle. Here are some non-fancy numbers:

Career points per game: Sid 1.3, Geno 1.2
Career playoff points per game: Sid 1.2, Geno 1.1
Art Ross Trophies: Sid 2, Geno 2
Rocket Richard Trophies: Sid 1, Geno 0
Hart Memorial Trophy: Sid 2, 1 second place finish. Geno 1, 2 second place finishes.
Calder Memorial Trophy: Sid 0, Malkin 1
Conn Smythe Trophy: Sid 0, Malkin 1

There is at very least a conversation to be had. Saying that I'm a moron is just changing the subject.

On the international stage, both players have 3 Gold Medals. Malkin has 2 more silvers and three more bronze. It's tempting to say that Malkin is a more decorated international player but the Olympic Golds are simply way more important than Worlds.

That's the thing with Ovi. He would feel invincible & have a feeling of self righteousness that anyone that continually niggled him he would soon get the poops pretty quick. Playing against him that's what they need to do, finish the hits & checks even if they bounce off they still get into his mind. They don't have to try & flatten (not too many could), but just a relentless amount of contacts into him will throw him off - now saying that he will probably try & flatten someone & not be penalised but that's good get him off his game. In his face all game & not just 1 player, drive him nuts & then just hope it's not you he is going to send through the boards.

The best defensive game I have ever seen against Ovie was (don't laugh) Craig Rivet when he was the Captain in Buffalo. Every shift, Rivet was no less than two feet away. There was no gap to be closed, the stick was super active, and the gloves were making contact with the chest whenever the puck was around.

I saw a game where Phaneuf was matched up with Ovie and it was a very entertaining affair. They both lit each other up in open ice a few times. Long and short, Ovie walked Dion four or five times.

Orpik's time had come to leave, but the one things folks can't take away from him is that even at the end of his run in Pittsburgh, he was Ovechkin kryptonite.

Ovechkin had 1 goal and 14 shots against the Penguins in four games last year, with Orpik shadowing him. This year in four games against the Penguins, he had four goals on 27 shots.
