solid advise - senstroll
That kid or whoever tweeted that is probably in highschool, the funny thing is they threatened to sue him for false accusations yet the rumour has been ongoing on twitter/social media for MONTHS. The guy trolled and won big time for it to get on tv live |

the fans are in now way responsible for the content aired on a privately owned network
it is the networks responsibility only.. if they choose to allow individuals to post comments without a disclaimer then the liability falls on them as the host of the medium. - Dozzer
If the fans cease to watch that specific network then, likely, the network will have to change either the content they deliver in order to get more fans back. Unless they like bleeding money, I guess. |

Of course...but it was a mistake, which they apologized for. And it's not like THEY made that statement either. |

At some point it needs to be recognized that both the fans and the media are responsible for the content they see on television and read in papers and online. One only exists because of the other and serves what sells. - BINGO!
I think that's a simplistic interpretation of how the media works. Of course hockey coverage exists because there is an interest in hockey. The size and intensity of that interest has created a huge hockey media presence in this city with all kinds of competition to get attention.
I didn't care what Reimer's mom thought about the team's handling of Jimmy's concussion. I didn't watch TSN to see some buffoon's tweet about Lupul and Elisha and I don't care that Jonas Siegel has decided not to protect Kessel anymore.
That's fuelled by the efforts of different individuals or outlets to get noticed in a very competitive environment.

Regardless, a lot of people troll and hashtag to get their tweets on air, it wouldn't be the first time someone has attempted that |

i think the emphasis and non stop talk about leadership is over the top... Sure if plays a part, but how much of a factor is it over skill or just being on well build team.
this week it was mentioned that Wilson made Dion Captain.. Burke and Wilson saw him as the person they wanted as the caption. Whether he is the right choice or not..it wasnt up to him.
Same with his contract.. Management failed again
It really comes down to Management failing at every level - senstroll
Huge part of it but the blame falls on the players as well.
The letter sent out today seems like hyperbole to some but I think this time it is a tear down. I had a exchange with Proteau of the Hockey News and Traikos last night on twitter and they agreed that the proof is in October when they lace them up and that core is dismantled. |

I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV's while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone.' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad. You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, God damn it! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!' I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!" - Atomic Wedgie
For a second, I considered whether you had typed this entirely from memory. Which would have been truly epic. Forty years on and still rings true. |

They did not threaten, they have initiated proceedings. And they filed in BC because of an earlier ruling (in the Burke/Mae case) that online content can be used in such proceedings.

I don't know how old Bingo is, but I remember having a pretty narrow view of the world around the time I graduated university...when I still felt I could "change the world" based on individualistic actions...if I choose not to watch, the only person I penalize is myself. It's like taking a pea shooter to war. |

Exactly but thats not the kids fault. Pretty sure people heckle celebrities all the time on twitter. Not a big deal, everyone trolls Lupul for banging every woman in Toronto or in this case, every girl would want to bang him |

Where is the media criticism of management though? Are you telling me that Darren Dreger goes after cousin Dave with the same tenacity he does the players? The fact of the matter is there are multiple conflicts of interest going on all around the media. If you want to be a respected journalist or analyst you can't cherry-pick your arguments. Period. |

It was irresponsible and part own the three ring circus TSN put on the air - llamas, singers, etc to compete with Sportsnet. They also blindsided poor Chad Johnson about coming to help the Sabres tank |

They are, and they likely have an auto filter for profanity which is why it got through.
They're guilty of negligence in this case, the kid is liable to be hit up for libel. |

Yeah this would be a pretty hard one to win except against TSN. Think it was more just sending a message than anything. |
