League needs to make sure that Rogers does well with its TV deal if it ever hopes to sign another big one. Best way for Rogers to make TV revenues is a long series of playoff runs for the Leafs.

Note - I don't believe that the lotteries are rigged but if they were, this would mean more than Arizona pissing away McDavid.

It may or may not be rigged. But if the question is what suits the overall success of the NHL the best, I don't think plopping C McD in the desert is top priority

Montreal and Toronto are in Canada so they cannot be compared with the other 4.
and no market in the NHL compares to NYC or even comes close. the Rangers are relatively unimportant on the NY sports scene and they're still the second most valuable team in the NHL.

I realize you're joking but Chicago is an extremely corrupt city and has massive massive debt and is very close to being the next Detroit bankrupt city. Democrats have pulverized the Illinois economy while all the surrounding states have flourished under Republicans.
