This is fair. (I'm only saying it is because I don't want to get banned) But you gotta be a twit if you think all top $ players are THE guy to make everybody better. We've had how many of those in the last 20 years? 2? Sundin, and you could argue Gilmour. Kessel is being paid his money to score goals. Not to be a Toews. I know that, you know that. Some guys cash in. Kessel deserves the money he gets. This whole team is a complete slab of donkey poop. If he goes, he goes. But he's not the end all of the problems.

Ive been saying kessels peaked. Not past his prime but soon. Maybe a few yrs left. The post about his ppg declining every yr for the past 4 says volumes. Kid is 27...hasnt seen a gym in yrs...we arent getting a ton for him. A very good return..but nowhere near what we paid.

I refuse to absolve someone with that kind of salary with flimsy excuses.

Does he have to be the best defensive forward on the team? (frank) no.

Should he be expected to try harder than positioning himself at the edge of the defensive zone waiting for a breakout pass? Yes.
