A nice 14-4 down the stretch for the Blackhawks would mean the Preds would have to go 11-7 (likely) to retain 1st and the Blues would need 13-6 over their last 19 to retain 2nd.

Erixon is in the Leafs' lineup. There are mostly empty seats in Florida, how long can the team afford to stay especially if they want to pay all their up and coming young guns?

Didn't JO have a broken foot from last season? I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't some aggravation of the injury. Pain can cause problems with many different
bodily actions. Not excusing him but there maybe more to the story.

- sgt1480

Still back reading so sorry if,,,,,What is JOs' injury anyways and what are the chances that the Hawks keep him out longer as he may be a victim of previous ailments? This would be the time to get him right imo.

Thankfully for them they have another year before Pirri likely gets his $10.5 mil per payday.

Didn't Ovechkin bust Campbell's collarbone and didn't Campbell come back way early? If I remember the story correctly they had him drinking some crap that made him wanna puke but supposedly helped the bone heal quicker. If the Hawks locker room is anything like our kitchen I bet that stuff's still kickin' around the back of the fridge.
- Hal9000y2k

Campbell had a fractured collarbone and rib on 3/17/10. He DID NOT have surgery...big difference than with Kanes injury. Expected return date was 7-8 weeks.

He did come back sooner than expected G4 vs preds on 4/22 soe he missed about 5 weeks. I am not sure you can just trim a kanes return by 2-3 weeks cuz cambell came back 2-3 weeks early.

You can thank Q for not giving him a chance. Don't get me started on Q.

He was insistent that Stan get Kimmo even though younger Dmen were available so he wouldn't have to play 5 or 57...true story

Correct on #2, I think we're saying the same thing. The odds don't reflect the 'actual' chance to win, but rather betting patterns and house desire to make money. The Cubs example is a valid one. The Blackhawks are also a national team, so their odds are probably lower that would be expected.
- scottak

My point was the house doesn't gamble...They don't pick the winners, but try to set odds to even out the action.

Agree....Marty Biron had an injury more similar to Kane although not sure if he had a plate or screws put in. Biron said his break fully healed in 14 weeks.

Supposedly the latest owner has very deep pockets and understood it would take a long time to break even. But if any team moves to Canada they are the one.

He will have to overcome the policy of the last owner who gave away tixs often. Buy seats in the lower bowl and receive two more games for free by just showing your tix stubs at the box office.

That's a good way to get a crowd and a really good way to tee off the season ticket holders who were paying full price.

One things that paid off in a big way here was when Wirtz would sell 300 level seats to students for $7-$8. A loss leader... but a smart one as many of those kids are now young adults attending games on a regular basis.

folks are getting way ahead of themselves that somehow these additions by bowman gets the hawks to WC finals and in comes kane to carry them to the cup...

Far more likely you will not see kane on the ice until next september even if the hawks do make it to the conf finals. Hard to fathom you can miss almost 3 months with a serious injury like that and just show up and play in top form for a cup push.

So 12 weeks it is as Biron was 6 -8 years older at the time of injury and the wonders of modern medicine.Thinking 11 weeks as I think there is something to be said about what someone posted earlier about not wanting to have the media askig what is taking so long when you low ball the return date.

True but there are also many instances of players coming back early from an injury.

The KHL are into their playoffs. Guess which player is tied with most playoff goals? He played only 6 regular games for team Sibir. It is a one time Hawk draft pick. Maxim Shalunov. He had a tough time at Rockford because he did not play good defense. Who knows, if he keeps scoring he might get another invite from uncle Stan. Wish him all the luck...nice kid.

The factor to understand and I don't know the answer is at what point in the healing process can Kane start to skate. Because he won't play until he skates for awhile and can take contact at practice...

The one they placed him on IR is an undisclosed upper body. But I have doubts he had fully recovered from last years foot injury. I googled the crap out of the latest one but got no sniffs at what it could be. I believe it was during the Boston game.

And the pain is indescribable to anyone that hasn't felt it -- I had a serious separation and will never forget the excruciating pain. What was almost worse was trying to come back too soon and shying away from contact. Until and even at 100%, there is that initial fear of recreating that pain.

Of course, I didn't have the luxury of a great medical and training staff. My recollection with Soupy's injury is that he had platelet therapy (and there is also some other deep stimulation therapy whereby they shoot electrical impulses deep into the injured area to increase the blood flow and healing.

it was the Boston game....his 1st shift...nobody realized he was gone for a while so they never really showed how he may have been hurt..

It's my understanding that once a break like Kane has is healed, it's healed (of course, you have to make sure it's completely healed before permitting any contact).

And - it's my understanding the a shoulder separation is worse because it's much easier to reinjure it.
