Just heard John Tavares talk about Nick Leddy and commented on his great hockey sense and poise. That can't be. Then he went out and compared him to Scott Niedermayer or however you spell it.
Then again, what does Tavares Know?
Johnny Oduya still the better choice...lol...
I bet Oduya seeing Leddy sign for his big deal, likely will expect a huge raise next year?
I know, I will always have sour grapes over this.

I don't envy any GM who had to face a situation like that one. Bottom line is who takes Oduya's final year of his contract while he's wearing a boot? The Hawks would have been lucky to find somebody who was willing to take him at half price, and even then, they still have to dump yet another contract to make it work. And we all know that nobody is taking Rozsival's final year, end of story.
We talked about this in another thread. The guys who were seemingly obviously tradable, how tradable were they in reality? Were there injuries that made other GMs balk at their price tags? Were the other GMs lowballing even worse on the other tradable players? I don't know the answer here.
Not agreeing or disagreeing with the decision to trade Leddy. My point has been to reconstruct a situation where Bowman had to deal Leddy. I think it is possible that this situation existed, though from my comfy GM armchair here, it's hard to know the real situation that existed. Stanley gets to see a different picture than any of us on here.
I don't know how Pokka is going to turn out, or the goalie prospect for that matter. If the goalie prospect gives them enough depth to give them the option of trading Crawford's salary, that's a plus, too. Bowman probably felt comfortable enough with the stable of D prospects to make the deal, also. TVR did look good before he went down, and his injury only exacerbates the anguish over the Leddy deal, especially because it forced Q to play Rozsival more often than would be advisable. And I think he was hoping that either Rundblad could pay off a lot better than has played out, or that one of the Rockford call-ups would be ready to step in and play well enough on the third pair if need be.
