And to boot, he's a pretty good 13th guy this year... |

So tell me, where does TT fit in this equation? How do you know already that Desjardins is going to mesh? Personally, I think it is a little early to slot a position for Desjardins. In two weeks time we will probably know if he has the tools to be part of the fourth line? |

I agree with this. He hasn't played a game yet. Let's see him play some games first before re-signing him next year. |

I dont think this has been brought up, but I feel that an added bonus to the Kimmo trade is the veteran presence in the locker room as a whole, and specifically for Tuevo. A legendary Finnish player with almost 2 decades of NHL experience will no doubt take the 19 year old Tuevo under his wing and help him continue to develop into an everyday NHLer, on and off the ice. |

Want to see TT succeed but come playoff time he is going to be tossed around like a rag doll. Looked decent the other night against an inferior opponent that was not playing to hard but watch what happens against a team like LA or STL. A boy amongst men. |

I have wondered about the timeframe on Kane's injury. A standard bone break is 4-6 weeks. Do the doctors remove the pins and plate after the bone heals - then another 4-6 weeks for the holes left by the pins to heal?? Because I can't see a simple bone break taking that long to heal. I have broken fingers and a toe - and cracked my tailbone - each time - it was 4-6 weeks.
Also - I read that Kane is skating to keep his conditioning up - so I don't think there will be much time needed to re-acclimate once he is cleared for contact.
Does anyone have a fact based opinion on the healing time?? - dahawks8819
I'm not a medical professional and I've never broken a collarbone so I have no clue as to how long Kane might take to heal. It seems as if some of the guys here have some experience with this type of injury. But how many of those guys have stepped directly into an NHL playoff series immediately after they healed up? When the other team knows where a player got hurt believe me they will give that body part a "test drive", which is why the vague description of injuries. It's easy to say get your azz back out there from a fans standpoint but think about the guys who are on the hook for 10 million next year. I can't believe they would throw Kane in the middle of something like that no matter what. We'll see, but my guess is the first game next year with all respects to Arlington Rob and the rest of you guys and dolls. |

Interesting debate regarding Dejardin. I think the kid will get a chance here Friday night to see what he can do for the team energy wise. Doesn't hurt either that he can play center. If he starts lighting guys up with solid checks chances are he'll be in the lineup.
Meanwhile really have liked Nordstrom's game all season...and good to see him now on the PK the other evening...and we all know Nordstrom takes the body. In limited time earlier in the year he quickly went to or near the top of the hits list for the Hawks...
The question then becomes who sits...TT eventually? And what about Carcillo. Is his time up here? |

My number for the Kaner Sweeps is 79.
It's going to be an absolute war going through rounds 1 and 2 but I believe the Hawks will do it. |

Up until the last game the Hawks forecheck has been OTL for the most part over the past two months. Smith was a nice player but he is another smaller nice player who really didn't bring a physical presence game in and game out....Hard to do for anyone but especially when you are asked to check bigger opponents.
Bowman needed to get bigger and did so with the two forwards acquired....Plus in the case of Desjardin they get grittier and save about $750k....which for the Hawks is also important.
Who sits??----TT or Nordstrom most likely but I don't see Carcillo in the picture come April or next season. |

My guess is that Desjardins becomes the 13th F most nights. Nordy has been solid and now seems to be on the PK (unless Vermette plays with Kruger). And Desjardins has been a 10 minute-per-night player with the Sharts. I doubt he will earn Q's trust to play much more than that...though I just looked him up and see that he has averaged over a minute of PK time in SJ. |

As one of the former hockeyFutures hawk editors, I think you ignore the list.
The guy is pretty much clueless and not in grasp of understanding the hawk prospects, potential or even what their strengths are.
I went out of curiosity and came away feeling he was a fan, but not in anyway capable of supplying an adequate list and the Euro exceptions justify my opinion.
I think it is a bad opinion and bad list and site whose fans know more than the editors. - wiz1901
Disgruntled former employee?
I agree with you. HF is sort of jumbled. They claim to have a ratings system but don't apply it very well. Shifts from writer to writer and team to team. Hard enough grading prospects as it is so they get away with it.

Looks like some are going to be upset by Q's decision for tomorrow's game; TT wearing a black jersey at practice. It appears Desjardins will slide into his spot on the 3rd line, even though Q said he liked his lines from the CAR game.
Another notable - the PP units:
65-19-81-7-2
23-80-91-10-44
... no Saad. |

RE: "SHAW IS A CENTER"
Agreed, inasmuch as I played center in college club and beer league hockey, I'm a 'center.' But am I better at center in the NHL or writing a blog?
Right.
Point is, the Hawks (allegedly) and some other people around the NHL feel Shaw is better as a wing in the NHL than a center—even though he has played center at all levels.
Same MAY end up holding true for TT. |

I hear you. Nice to have the option but I'm hoping we see him at wing from here on out. |

On the Kane return my answer is next year. It's one thing to return to normal life and quite another to be thrown into an intense playoff series against a physical opponent like WPeg or LA with a healing broken bone in the shoulder area.
Too much can go wrong in a hurry.
Don't see the Hawks organization risking long term damage by playing Kane.
I think the team we have now is the team we will have for a playoff run.
