Game 1 next year. If I were in charge I wouldn't let him play any more this year. - 6628
It's a collar bone...rather standard repair. Unless there's a shoulder issue no one has mentioned he can play when he heals.
10-12 weeks and get his azz out there. |

I want to play the Kane game. And not trolling, but I am going to say game 1 of the 2015-16 season. So around Oct 10th.
So 228 days is my guess. - carcus
And if the Blues beat the Hawks or advance without playing the Hawks due to Kane's absence.... sort of cheapens the accomplishment IMO. Of course, Hitch's game plan includes hurting Toews and Kane.... so mission accomplished sort of (even if it was someone else who did it). |

Do you mean Desjardins is tough? Something else? - tredbrta
And speaking of Desjardins, quite frankly where does he play? Shaw looks great on the fourth line as well as Nordstrum. Do you dress him for only teams such as the Blues and Jets?
Or do you sub him in for Bickell? Never mind, just answered my own question. On a side note, TT really stepped his game up the other night. Give this kid a real look, he may be making strides. Yeah, I know, Bickell was on his line. |

Not necessarily. They might not match up in round 1.
I would love for the Blues to bounce the Hawks. But I just think the Blackhawks will lose before Kane is ready to come back. - carcus
If that doesn't happen & the Blues take the gas pipe .... Again, what next, I am a fan of the rough game but in the playoffs , you can't hit what you can't catch, last year, Zues +?, this year, Richards, Vermette, timo, & Desjardins. Not bad. Seems like every year some write the Hawks off when there is a potential match up...... They have been wrong every time so far! |

Are the TSN guys on tilt after the Kessel incident? A team that is playing like a steamy pile, can't score much and added a key player (according to them) that has no timetable for return, makes them #1? - stljam
Horton is retiring. This is about cap space next year and beyond for the Leafs. Basically about teams who can spend vs teams who cannot.
Toronto sends Clarkson to CBJ for Horton because Columbus didn't insure his contract. Toronto basically paid several million $ to gain the right to spend that cap space the next few years. Jarmo - if CBJ had the money - would have gladly kept Horton and used that cap space next year. Instead, he had to take Clarkson. Budget team....

Actually wouldn't mind him centering Shaw and Bickell at some point to see how it looks. If Shaw is injured he may rotate with him some to get Shaw healthy? I like the flexibility it gives Q. Need to see how Desjardins kills penalties - he was pretty good at it a few years ago. If he can kill then he may be in the lineup a lot. |

I hear ya but hate to sit the kid Nordstrom, who has really been playing well. However, curious to see what Desjardins can add to the team. |

Think JJ mentioned it earlier, one of the benefits that Desjardins brings is that he can take a FO.
That makes this line even more of a shut down line. Really big deal to reduce minutes off of 1st line.
If he gets any penalty kill time, you can reduce Toews penalty kill time and have another FO guy. Him, Krugs, Vermette, all on top PK line really gives an advantage on the FOs.
Huge in the playoffs.

Kruger is a center. As is Nordstrom and Shaw. That is a lot of IFs in there regarding Desjardins, Every time Nordstron has played, the 4th line has been effective. Think the Hawks view Nordstron as the PK replacement for Smith. Ot Saad/Versteeg before Desjardins, imo. Also Vermette.
Honestly think they just wanted a bigger body than Carcillo. Or maybe they just got tired of watching Carcillo get his ass whupped. |

HS has a new summary piece on the Hawks prospects dtd 3/2/15.
http://www.hockeysfuture....ckhawks-top-20-prospects/
They have Johns ahead of TVR and Hayden ahead of Nordstrom even though the latter have NHL time.... I guess they rank based on their opinion of upside potential. Almost half of their top 20 are in college. - tredbrta
As one of the former hockeyFutures hawk editors, I think you ignore the list.
The guy is pretty much clueless and not in grasp of understanding the hawk prospects, potential or even what their strengths are.
I went out of curiosity and came away feeling he was a fan, but not in anyway capable of supplying an adequate list and the Euro exceptions justify my opinion.
I think it is a bad opinion and bad list and site whose fans know more than the editors. |

Question is can he kill penalties? Does he have any prior history of doing so? I realize he won't match Ben Smith in this role, but I agree on your main premise. I don't want to see the Captain and Hossa expend energy on the kill.
What is interesting though, he seems to have a reputation as an unpredictable loose cannon, so to speak. If this is true, I love it. I have always said the Hawks need a mega agitator, better keep your head on a swivel sort. Kind of like our favorite Roussell out of Dallas.
But you get my point. |

Would be interested in what you thought the list was. Don't need to list 20, but would like to see what you thought 1-10. |

And RHETORICALLY speaking? Just how dominant would this team have been without a cap this current decade? Just saying. |
