Even Chara wasn't Chara with the Isles and the Sens, it took several years and a trip to beantown for the beast to truly emerge.

Also, your constant tardiness is getting tiresome. Pick up your game!

Weber/Streit
MDZ/Shattenkirk
Oduya/Gudas

I saw recently where Craig Button called Sanheim the best dman on the planet born in 1996. I think Mr. Button better look at Ekblad's bio.

what if you can get Christian Ehrhoff/P Martin for 6M and move off Amac's 5M hit

Salary is pretty close
Instant improvement

It's really the first year he's shown this level of ability. Before, any time he was on the top-pair, he was w/ Chara.

I'm not banking on him being the Mike Knuble of defensemen.

I just don't think they can afford to add any more big-$/long-term contracts... unless they find some way to shed AMac and/or Streit first.

- Tomahawk

I don't agree that they need to shed a contract before taking on another. They just dealt Coburn and added Gudas, gaining 3.5M in cap space. Streit only has two years left on his deal after this. They could move Grossmann and Schenn, and depending on if they have to retain salary or take a contract back, that can create more cap space. Also have options of buying out Umberger or Lecavalier to gain more. Depending on the cost of a player like Boychuck, a defense of Boychuck, Del Zotto, Streit, MacDonald, Schultz, one of the kids, and Gudas as a 6/7 would be very competitive. May not be cup material on paper, but very competitive. The alternative is to sit back and waste numerous prime years of players such as Giroux, Voracek, and Simmonds.

No way I give up a 1st or top prospect to move AMac, and thats what the Sabres would want

Nope. Play him on the 3rd pairing for now. If the cap keeps going up, his salary won't look so bad in a few years and his term will be a bit more reasonable for another team to take on, assuming we sweeten the pot a bit.

If they were going to go to all that trouble, I'd hope it would be for a better, younger player with a longer elite track record than Boychuk.

Just sayin'.

sure

G to AZ for OEL and their first this year

replace G with McD/Eichel and have your franchise #1 D in one fell swoop

go hexy

I'm keeping Jake though, I'm crazy but not that crazy

yes it would be very hard to do, but they have 2 firsts this year

I am on a bender this morning about not wanting to see another year of the current D and trying to spit ball options that don't include waiting until G and Jake are in the thirties to have a competitive D

probably the better option is to just wait it out and keep Amac and their draft picks
