It's not the fact that the media is upset at what the Sabres are doing, they should be. It's that 3 or 4 other teams are blatantly doing it also and they don't seem to have too much of a problem with them, or the fact that their has been at least 1 team aggressively tanking each year for like the past 25 years and that was also no big deal. The double standard is hypocritical. If tanking is a smart decision for Pitt, Chi, Tampa, NYI, Florida, Edm, Col, and many others who have done it. Then why is it such a sin when were doing it.
- sskkoo1

There are two teams doing it: Buffalo and Arizona. Edmonton is just terrible, and the rest have had injury problems. Buffalo's "mistake" was that they've been unabashed about it since the spring of 2013. Darcy Regier used the "suffering" tag. Then the Buffalo Sabres hosted both Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel in their building in games. Ted Black has mentioned both guys publicly more than once. I'm convinced that the reason why Arizona doesn't get roasted for what they are doing is because everybody has known this is what Buffalo has been trying to do for two years, and they're hoping to see them fail at it. Let's be honest, if any other team sounded the trumpet like the Sabres did, we'd be hoping they'd lose out as well. There's definitely something annoying about it. That being said, tank on. They're not doing this to make friends.

Write an essay of 1,500 words or less describing the role of plumbers and pipe-fitters in securing an adequate world-wide supply of potable water.

The essay judged as "Most Outstanding" by our three person panel will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship by the International Association of Water Supply Professionals, to assist in payment of tuition at an accredited institution of higher learning.

I went through all that fun stuff a few years ago... So many scholarship essays to write. He wrote them, not me. I can't grammar and I barely English at all.

C'mon Pierce we all know damned well that Murray is doing his best to flush a turd.
The entire North American continent knows this.
Heck, some of Europe probably does as well.

From the beginning of the season i had the approach of wanting them to win but wasn't disappointed if they lost.
The kane trade changed it all for me, that was the moment that it was 100% obvious. 22 years old and i've NEVER seen a pure goal scorer (briere one year) or a good Quarterback. This towns deserves a star athlete.

- yen6d1

I can certainly appreciate that take yen6d1.

Trust me when I tell you us old timers are more than ready to cheer for a great talent.

I just wish we could have gotten him into our garage in a different way is all.

Whether I agree or like what is taking place here I will most certainly cheer for a great talent on a team that without question is and has been my favorite sports team since their inception.
Next are my Cleveland Indians then come the Bills.

But make no mistake I will cheer for him, I am not getting any younger.

When he was out in November for seven games, Team GA was 2.28.

So for the year, Team GA is 3.36.
Gorges out for seven games in November, Team GA during that time was 2.28.
Gorges out for eight games now, Team GA during that time is 2.63.
Next excuse for him?

- strongsupporter

You mean when Enroth had a 96% percentage. Again GAA average is not the stat to go by. No excuse he's had a bad year but cherry picking stats when clearly both goalies were carrying this team is not something to base your point on.

My thoughts on the never ending tanking debate.

In my household, my parents HATED savvy. They hated shortcuts. The ends ALWAYS had to be justified by the means. It was so aggravating and difficult to get through life like that. Everyone else gets ahead and what was I supposed to do, stand in the back of the line and pat myself on the back for always being the honorable guy who played by the rules? That philosophy in life ruined me and took me nearly till my 30's to get my life on track.

So you know what I say? Tank! (frank) this honorable crap. I want to be relevant, I want superstar players. I want to be a super star free agent destination. I want outdoor games, cup parades, attendance records and all that. We have the opportunity with Pegula. LETS DO IT!

Homeowners!!! I have a question.

The company we are working with is either going to give us money towards closing or towards upgrades to the house.

Any suggestions?

I can only base it on the times he is out (about 25% of the season) plus his league leading plus/minus.
He is lucky to have people like you who overlook the facts.

His results by any standard are bad but he talks a good game.

Cool story, bro...

Seriously though, this isn't life, this is a game, so it's not a knock on anyone's upbringing - I find that argument very disjointed.

So you continue to judge the skill of an NHL defenseman based solely on 1 partial season on the worst team in the NHL?

So you are choosing to overlook the fact that both goalies carried the team during those stretches you listed and blaming Gorges solely for the rest...got it!

Not at all.
However, fairness says that players should be evaluated on how they played, all by the same standard.
If they play well, give them credit.
If poorly, say it.
