Our season is ruined as it is. Caron is really just taking McGinns spot in the top 9 bc hes out for the season. If he shows he has any hockey ability he will be 12th/13th guy going forward

Yeah it does help us, gives the Avs flexibility with the amount of contracts going forward. Either they drop him or he replaces someone else on the depth chart by letting some other AHLer go (like Carey). Talbot is a signed next season and they have too many 4th line guys already under contract. They wont be getting any better by having the same old guys in the bottom 6 being another year older.

Need to have the ability to start making changes.

It was last year. They were terrible two years ago, so they got Mackinnon. I think they went from like a 40 pt season to 112 last year.

I don't understand all the calls for Julien and Chiarelli to be fired... one mediocre season with all of the injuries that we've had this year really isn't that bad. With all the success that we've had in Boston sports in the past 10-15 years, when we have one off year the Boston media is immediately calling for everyone's heads to roll, it's just stupid in my opinion. Anyone in the Boston media calling for Julien to be fired should be fired themselves... Claude's probably among the top 5 coaches in the NHL, he just has had squat to work with this year. I don't think Chiarelli has had his best season (it might even be his worst, the Boychuck trade was dreadful IMO). I wish we could have kept Boychuk and gotten rid of Chara. Boychuk is in his prime, and was a great Bruin... and I'd love to see with Bergeron with the C on his chest. Chara's time really looks like it's gone by at this point. But we're stuck with him because of his NMC. Which really sucks, because now we're stuck with an aged, past his prime D-man with a large salary. But if you have to have one aged past his prime D-man with a large salary, then Chara is probably the guy you'd want. I think it's just going to hurt us for the next couple of years. Honestly, I like the moves that Chia made at the deadline... no big splashes (though I don't think anyone expected that), but he added some depth to the team without giving up much. I wouldn't have minded seeing Loui moved. 4mil for a 3rd line right winger seems a bit steep. He should have been our top line right winger, but he's just never lived up to it. Reilly Smith was really the better of the two in the Seguin trade IMO. I'm excited to see Connolly play. I don't know where he'll fit in, but I hope he gets a try on one of the top 2 lines. After seeing the price for Chris Stewart was only a 2nd round pick, I wish we would have grabbed him though. Still had room in the cap for him. He's had a rough season in Buffalo, but really... who want's to play for Buffalo right now? I don't think this squad is a real strong Cup contender, but if Tuukka gets hot and we start scoring with more consistency... who knows we could pull it off LA Kings style!

TL;DR... Boston media is crazy... Julien is the man... Chias made some mistakes, but deserves the chance to right the ship... Shoulda kept Boychuk and moved Chara (damn NMC)... Would love to see Bergeron as our captain... I'm a Smith lover and a Loui hater... excited to see Connolly play with the B's... too bad we didn't land Stewart for a 2nd rounder... Bruins win the cup in 2015! Ehh probably not...

Yeah, last year I thought they were going to be cup contenders come this season. I had Varlamov on my fantasy team last year, and boy what a pick up that was. This year I drafted McKinnon and he turned out to be a dud. It was unfortunate, I was hoping they would have been better off this year... I'd love to see Roy do well as a coach.

Long post but short answer is cap mismanagement, which a big part of it, which everyone forgets, is going all in wth iggy. The rest is overpaying nearly every player on the roster

LeBurn:
A source told ESPN.com that on Saturday the Bruins offered the Sabres two second-round picks in exchange for Stewart, goalie Michal Neuvirth and depth forward Brian Flynn. Obviously that deal wasn’t accepted, the Sabres wanting a specific prospect that Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli just didn’t want to give up, feeling it was too high a price to pay.

Once Boston moved on Connolly overnight Sunday with the cost being two-second picks going to the Lightning, the bigger-package deal with the Sabres was off the table.

But even as far back as on the eve of the season, back in early October, the Bruins are believed to have offered Ryan Spooner and a second-round pick for Stewart. Murray decided to wait for a better offer. And again, the Sabres GM could very well have got that better offer in other years, it just didn’t play out that way this time.

Moving Spooner or a mid-round pick for Stewart wouldn’t have been the end of the world. Moving Spooner and a second-rounder would have been silly, especially considering Stewart’s difficulty staying motivated and the fact that he will be a free agent after the season. Chiarelli owes Tim Murray for turning those offers down, as they were both far better than what Buffalo ended up getting for Stewart.

Roberto Luongo looks just like Jean Girard (the gay French race car driver from Talladaga Nights).

Never seen an injured goalie leave the game.........

Change into street cloths.......

Proceed to ask the coach if he can go back in......

And then go back in.......

Its clear that teams were trying to gouge the Bruins, but yet everyone will still accuse PC of just sitting on his hands. He's a terrible GM before for not making a move, and now you think he's a terrible GM because you see how he tried to overpay and was STILL turned down. If he'd gotten a deal done it would have been a gross overpayment. He did what he could

i mean it's easy to say its too rich now that we know what he went for. but i'm not really sold on spooner, regardless of how magical he is in the AHL. at the end of the day i think i'm happy not to have stewart.

but this also proves that no matter what he did, or did not do, people were going to think Chiarelli was an bumhole either way.

yes, but thats because his cap mismanagement put him in this position. It also has shown how poor they have drafted since he's been here. (Looch, Marchy, and Krejci were all O'Connell picks) Since then, there's been a lot of bad selections.

He's shown a lot the last few games actually. I've been down on him too but if he can consistently play the way he has been recently then id rather have him in the lineup than soderberg. He's a guy who could be real effective vs the habs too. B's have some really good forward depth right now imo, assuming Connollys not a dud

I've liked spoons for the last 18 months. Watched him in Springfield and he will be a solid player.

If we traded him we would be watching him kill the Bs for a divisional team.

Stewart is an UFA than has bigger consistency problems than Lucic.

How have any of the last handful or so trades gone?
He has WAY undervalued players on this team that should have been core players..........Boychuk and Seguin ( another young kid we gave up on too early.)

Deadline deals.......we haven't made a good deadline deal since we won the Cup......maybe the Jagr deal.......GIVEN AWAY too many high picks for borderline players

Spooner is one of three valued prospects in the system along with Koko and Subban.......other than that we have no GOOD prospects, maybe Morrow.......EMPTY POOL. (Especially forwards)

These are reasons I would have been pissed about trading for Stewart, especially for Spooner.
These are opinions based on facts about our present state as a team and our history of drafting poorly (before Gretzky) and trading picks for poor rental players.

I do not think this team is close to being a Cup contender....
If they do not receive a SHOCK they will NOT change.......

I like the Connolly trade....it's a future like trade.

Wish we sold for picks to restock our prospect pool.

Heavy lifting will be needed this offseason........"hockey trades."

FYI.......this team is sliding because it's older players are experiencing drop offs.....it's called Father Time.
It's fringe "top tier" players like Smith, Marchand, Lucic, Soderberg, have been over valued.

And the most important reason of them all......THE REST OF THE NHL HAS GOTTEN BETTER WHILE WE STAYED THE SAME.

22-13-3 with less than 100% Krejci in the lineup

Projects to over a 100 pt season

Many of the B's losses came to inferior teams while he was out. How do people STILL underrate this guy? He's elite. Oh yeah, Chara got hurt too. PC isn't perfect but this IS a good team. He was under pressure from management to make a deal and thankfully nothing crazy happened.

I think Connolly was an awesome pickup. I picture him on the Krejci line. I'd like to see what he can do if given the opportunity to be "the" shooter with an elite playmaker. There's a highlight real of him on the bruins web site. He scores a lot of "goal scorers goals", if ya know what I mean. That's exactly the type of player they have been missing

If the young guys stay consistent, we could have crazy forward depth once Krejcis back

Lucic Krejci Connolly
Marchy Bergy Smith
Kelly Yeti Loui
Talbot Spooner Pastrnak
Paille Campbell Ferlin

Bring it Montreal

I agree with Krejic being an elite center......if anything this year proves how people overrated Soderberg.

The yeti is a solid third liner on a deep team but not a top first or second liner.

Smith would be on the fourth line IMO.....he scored 20 goals once, inconsistently, playing with an elite center in Bergy.......he is one of the guys Bs fans overrated.

Pasta and Loui are our best RWers.......Loui is a left shot too......so maybe switch him to yeti's left wing......with Smith on the right?

The biggest problem with your lineup is that Campbell and Paille will never be scratches with our coach.........spooner and Ferlin would be dropped to the minors.
