so in essence he did trade a 1st for him. young d take time to develop and teams aren't trading 1st rd picks at the deadline for young players, theyre trading them for vets. To say he didn't have 1st round value is short sighted imo.

We just have to wait and see. Despres could flop in ANA, he was quoted the other day saying I've been playing well because I'm comfortable here. Now he goes elsewhere, 20 games left to the playoffs. I'm not sure if he even slots into there top 6.

What ??? It's like saying Cole has 1st round value. Calgary just traded Baertchi (2011 16th pick) for a second. Tampa traded Connolly (2010 6th pick) for 2 2nds. You can't look at what their past value was. It's what their current value is[url]

Value is relative. The point is they essentially gave up a 1st for Lovejoy.

does anyone know the proposed time table for Dupuis ? with what he tweeted out the other day I wonder just how close he is ? I'll bet he's closer than people think. That was pretty bold the other day, "I'll be back to NHL" ...

we traded borts for close not depres

the above comparison, based on the fact you feel depres is better than boots means we lost on that trade.

I am pissed that we didn't use Depres to get deeper offensively. we have plenty of def and definitely need depth up front.

we shoulda just kept depres. though hitting isn't the only thing its very important when playing physical opponents especially in playoff. we just traded our two most physical players..........

No he didn't but neither will other players 6th or 7th defenseman. I don't think the Pens were winning the East either way. Move Martin and Kuntz make a splash, get younger. Teams would've paid a ton for those guys in a sellers market.
