Not for Anaheim. This is pretty much what they've been looking for. I can't believe Pitt traded him for Lovejoy. Ben's been good in Anaheim but he has nowhere near the upside that Despres has. I'm still pleasantly baffled.

I'm with you......Perhaps I'd have understood this trade (for the Penguins) under the previous regime, but not so much now. And, from a distance, I thought the Ducks liked Lovejoy.

this trade really doesn't make that much sense, though, now that i think about it... there may be more at play here... maybe a three-way... all this talk about moustachio rides, hey, anything is possible

There better be more to this story and/or more coming back for Despres than just Ben Freakin' Lovejoy, or this is one of the most idiotic moves I've ever seen the Penguins make.

And I'm old enough to remember when we drafted Gordie Laxton in the first round, on one of those rare occasions back in the olden days when we actually HAD a #1 pick to make (when not too busy trading it for some bum-of-the-month like Hartland Monahan and Ron Meighan).
