While I think that Yzerman overpaid for Coburn, I don't think that he was fleeced in the deal.
Gudas? I haven't heard much about him as a player, to be honest, I would have if he was any good.
If Glencross fetches a 2nd and a 3nd then Coburn is worth a 1st and a 3rd.
I know 1st round picks are sexy, but they are not money in the bank.
Fact is, Tampa wasn't the only team in on Coburn. If you are going to make a push for a player you think might help you in the playoffs, then you have to be prepared to outbid other teams in acquiring said player. - jazzca1974
I feel like the Coburn deal is in reaction to the NYR Yandal deal. I can easily see nyr going to the conference finals.
Fact is, this year teams are overpaying. |

Firstly, Bye bye Gudas hope you continue to make a name for yourself in Philly!
Secondly, Connolly wasn't assured much more ice-time next season, so dealing him rather than continuing to stagnate his development is a good move. And I do think Brown has the ability to be a good 4th liner or depth player.
Thirdly, by moving Gudas out and bring Coburn in, we get someone with more experience without further jeopardizing the future signings next offseason of Stamkos, Johnson, Palat and whomever else as his contract will be up at the same time.
Lastly, I'm hoping to god this makes us better. Coburn is bigger and more experienced. Brown is a heart and soul type player and can definitely hold his own on the 4th line IMO. I'm sure there's plenty of people who have seen more of this team than myself, but I will trust the motto, "Trust in Yzerman". |

It would be hilarious if Tampa and the Rangers met in the finals. An epic reunion between St. Louis and Tampa. |

You guys over rate Gudas. He throws the odd big hit but he is really not that good. He is the type of defenseman other teams love to see on the ice so they can get their top six forwards out against him. |

I like how a Sens fan feels the need to tell Bolts fans what their player is like. |

Its still an overpayment IMO. Two picks (one a first) plus a capable d-man seems like too much to me.
Stevie is going all in it seems... |

I always find it easy to spot the idiots on hockeybuzz. They are the ones that quote a person's allegiance as the qualifier for their hockey knowledge...ie. 'that's rich coming from a ______ fan.'
Helps me quickly identify the people whose comments I can just skip past. Welcome to the list. |

You should probably get a tampon for that.
How am I on the list when you responded to me instead of skipping past my comment? You're not the sharpest spoon in the drawer are you.., |

I'm pissed about the Connolly trade. No reason to do that imo he's one of our most skilled players and he never got a fair shot. Stevie will regret that one. As for coburn Im shocked we gave up a 1 st rounder but they can have gudas he's bad on the puck and isn't even that physical anymore. Probably will be injury prone the rest of his career too. |

Michael Stuart: BREAKING: Brett Connolly Traded to Boston - Michael_Stuart
I'm fine with the Connolly deal, he wasn't getting proper time here in Tampa Bay and he's got a Boston style edge to his game now.
I disagree with Michael on Gudas though, yes he made mistakes, but he also made good decsions and highlight reel hits. Everyone keeps showing that me mistake against Montreal, but that turn was the same knee he just had surgery on. I will miss seeing him in Tampa Bay and I believe it was a mistake to move him. On that note, does anyone know where to get nameplates to stitch over other names on jerseys? |

Coburn is better than Gudas. Gudas isn't good. - Michael_Stuart
Coburn has wheels but he'll only use it in the defensive zone. He can skate with the puck, but he has no plan with it.
He has the worst one timer you will ever see
Very good with his stick defensively, covers a lot of ground
Turns his physical game up in the playoffs, he can be quite effective that way.
He almost scored 40 pts in 07-08. Then the offense dried up |

You're dead wrong on Coburn. He's a turnover MACHINE and way too soft for his size. |
