I think we could see something like that.
Another possibility is that they flip Coburn. - Michael_Stuart
Coburn has solid possession numbers and a solid HERO chart. Never know with Yzerman. Just trust him. |
|
|
|
I don't think he fills a need, especially once Carle gets back. If they can flip him and get a guy like Wisniewski, then we're in business. - Michael_Stuart
That would save the deals. |

It does move Carle to the 3rd pair which is the level he has been playing at.
Wiz would be an intriguing piece. |

Wiz isn't even in the same breath as Yandle. Coburn is much better than you think. |

Coburn isn't a bad player at all. If TB's roster had different needs I'd like this pickup. Just not sure it fits with this group right now. |

Coburn has all the physical tools. Huge, very good skater, eats minutes, reliable. Key is, get him with a good solid partner and he's capable of being a good solid top 3.
The thing with Coburn, he's not a Batman. He's a fantastic Robin. With Hedman or Stralman, I could see him being worth the high cost. He got scapegoated in Philly, but he's a really solid guy. |

What if they keep Coburn and somehow moved Garrison(NTC might be voided?) and picks for Wiz? |

Carle isn't waiving his NTC to go to CBJ. My idea would result in this:
Hedman-Wiz
Coburn-Stralman
Carle-Sustr
Barberio |

How is that package remotely close to what NYR gave up? - Mr_Underwood
1st in this years draft has more value. Moore=Gudas. Dunclair is younger and more promising then Connolly but he hasnt shown anything in the NHL. With out the 4th comming back and with no retained salary it makes it kind of even. Throw in a couple of scrap parts and we get the same value. |

Moore>Gudas
Duclair>Connolly
Scrap parts don't get Yandles. |

What makes Duclair better then Connolly? When Connolly was his age, they where equally hyped. Nothing says he will be a contributor in the nhl.
The scrapparts is to even out the value. Gudas + 3rd = John Moore i would say. I just think that if you look at the cost of Yandle and compare it to Coburn, we should have been in the talks with Arizona.

I feel like we could have gotten Yandle with the assets we gave up... Which would have been better than coburn. |

I'm shocked! The price was very high for Coburn. Too expensive for my taste. I hope the Habs don't follow this madness. |

While I think that Yzerman overpaid for Coburn, I don't think that he was fleeced in the deal.
Gudas? I haven't heard much about him as a player, to be honest, I would have if he was any good.
If Glencross fetches a 2nd and a 3nd then Coburn is worth a 1st and a 3rd.
I know 1st round picks are sexy, but they are not money in the bank.
Fact is, Tampa wasn't the only team in on Coburn. If you are going to make a push for a player you think might help you in the playoffs, then you have to be prepared to outbid other teams in acquiring said player. |

That was one goal. If there is a team this year that can beat Montreal it's Tampa. |
