Him sticking to his rules and not adjusting was part of his downfall. He also made some poor 1st round picks. If he hit on a few more of those in the early 2000s I bet we were a contender for longer.
- SabresFaninIndiana

Yeah. The string of first round - failures isn't even a strong enough word - killed us.

Regeir was an ok GM. He just was employed way too long.

Such a neaderthalic, misinformed and totally uneducated spewing of 100% nonsense.

I hope it's true what I am hearing that Teddy blew up at Murray when Pysyk was sent back down.
And I hope at seasons end Teddy leaves on his own terms.

Teddy and I feel the same about "tanking"
There is little to no pride left inside that organization and that is troubling.
All I hear from idiots is "the ends justify the means".
Eff your ends and your means, show some pride for Christs sake.
Play the (frank)ing game to win the way its meant to be played.
Not by making a mockery of the system, the game and people that care about values such as Teddy and I and I am sure, many others.
So sick of this talk.
God forbid I ever see Murray out in public.
God help him, he may lose teeth.

You must truly have been placed on this Earth for the sole reason to entertain posters on HockeyBuzz! You are quite remarkable, truly! When you swim in the soup of your egomaniac/uninformed/ignorant soul.

am of the opinion that those draft picks had a lot to do with jim benning, his director of amateur scouting...

look, i'm not saying Regier is a Hall-of-Famer, just sayin' that the dude wasn't even close to a joke...even the suck-sisters weren't a joke...they produced outside of the no-touch, new-nhl

Yea, he made some good moves and bad ones. what really bothered me were some of the non moves he made.

Regardless I was glad they moved on

Regier wasn't a joke as a gm...he may have been poor at team building, but the players he brought in were excellent individual players...just look at the return he got for them
- Michael Pachla

Michael, seriously. Once again he had and all world goalie. He overvalued vanek who I know for a fact could of had kopitar straight up for. He built his team around pominville, vanek, roy, stafford, and the list goes on. How have those guys careers gone? You have a stanley cup goalie and you bring in Bob corkum at the deadline. He let larry Quinn tell him we don't negotiate during the regular season. He listens to REGIER and says briere isn't needed. in REGIERS tenure how many times did we miss the playoffs. The only winning he did was with HASEK and one year with rule change. Danius zubrus,Bob corkum,Jacob krepsis, andy delmore steve big bear Bernier and the list goes on. What did we make playoffs 8 of his 14 years and we are in this spot because of his horrible drafting

We're going to play nice today.

He made some great trades. He also drafted some terrible players, especially in the 1st.

I wasn't a fan of Nolan, heard things from a close relative of Mucklers that were just pathetic. I just can't mention the bad stuff here but the hockey related things? He would skip practices on the road, have too many voluntary, have assistants run too many of them.
- GilPerreault11

do you think he still does that now?

The beanpot finished 2 days ago

Edit on the 23rd but the video was said to be from a while ago and was just released

- Stripes77

All of the videos were released at once, with one of them having Eichel chugging something out of the Beanpot trophy like a week ago. And snapchat videos automatically delete after a short period of time. Iassumed they all were filmed around the same time because of that. If that's not correct, my bad.

He had his ups and his downs. I think what pach said about being able to build a team was a big part of his issues.
- SabresFaninIndiana

He was given the keys to a well put together team from Muckler.

He did the best he could during the bankruptcy years.

Got a little lucky after the lockout as the rule changes were in his favor with the players he brought in.

He made some very good trades but all in all held onto his guys to long.

17 years is a long time to have a GM job with one team without any real success (cup wins).

He also flipped Reinprecht and Warrener for Drury, and Gratton for Briere, and a Gaustad for a 1st.

Not all bad. And that was just off the top of my head

Listen, guys trust me. The 12second video with Eichel was chugging a beer and saying I am co ing for you buffalo. Is for a girl he hooks up with from buffalo who visits BU.
That is factual

Secondly just told that the Bruins were only willing to part with a third for stewart. Murray is waiting to get higher return

I just want to say that Quinn had to push him to do the Drury deal. The former City Councilman. Yeah

many points to disagree with...I still stand by my notion that Regier was not a joke of a gm...will reiterate that I was not enamored with the type of players he preferred to build with...nor did I like his stripping down of the hardest working team in hockey...but he build the Ferrari that people fell in love with...too bad the nhl changed and like someone aptly pointed out, he failed to adjust...

here's what he got for those guys...and as murray continues the work that Regier started, it's the gift that keeps on giving:

I hear ya, homer...but as you know, there was a lot more going on behind the scenes on that debacle...didn't Quinn think drury re-signing was a done deal (hand shake, if i'm not mistaken)...and didn't the cap dictate that one or the other had to be let go?
- Michael Pachla

I know, I don't think the guy was an idiot but I don't think he was anything special as far a GM goes either.

Does that really explain the original video having a snapchat caption over it saying "Tank for Eichel"? Unless "tanking" is some name for a sexual act that the kids say nowadays, it seems hockey related.
