If you can trade Grossmann for picks and sign Gudas...you essentially replaced Grossmann at a cut cost rate with a cheaper d man... Although, right now, I acknowledge that Grossmann is a more rounded at this point

It's kind of like the do we get rid of Grossmann or Luke Schenn discussion previously. Grossmann is the better player imo, but based on injuries and age he'd be the one I try to get rid of.

I think I'd trade Grossmann before Luke Schenn. Schenn is younger, less injury prone. Grossmann seems more moveable with the year he's having.


Schenn has also been scratched and paired with almost everyone outside of Streit all season. I'd at least have him settle in with one D partner.

I'd be willing to deal both. Not a personal bias, but injuries have limited Grossmann and Schenn's ceiling is not worth his cap hit. In a strictly dollars and cents sense, they can get better value.

Gudas is different than anyone the Flyers currently have. He isnt a big guy.. Hell I'm a bigger d-man then him and im just over 6'1 foot and 210. He is vicious though. Hits really hard. Good fighter.

The test was a concussion baseline test, guessing the puck got his shoulder and head.

Gudas is 24, less than 1mil cap hit, hits like a train, fights like a beast, and is RFA after next season.

Coburn is 30, 4.5mil cap hit, good skater for his size, not nearly nasty enough for his size, UFA after next season.

Toss out that Gudas is out for this season. The Flyers are out for this season. Hextall knows this. The draft picks are the meat of this trade for Philly, but don't discount Gudas as a #5-6. Young, cheap, underrated defenceman. Makes Schenn and/or Grossmann more expendable, in the summer if not today.
